    1. [BUSCH] How common is the surname "Busch" and given name "Dorothea?"
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Busch Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VEH.2ACIB/396 Message Board Post: One of my great grandfathers was John Christoph Busch. His daughter, my grandmother, was named Alice Dorothea. I am named after her. Most of my life, I have known very few people with the name Dorothea and even fewer who can spell it correctly. On this site, I find Busch families with these names, but they settled in states where I have no known ancestors. For example, there seems to be a Busch family with similar names to the ones in my family, which settled in Texas. Is this a coincidence or did other branches of the same family settle in different parts of the USA. I hope this doesn't seem like a silly question, but I do wonder if it's like "John Smith." Our family doesn't seem to have information beyond the level of great grandparents. We know they came from Kuhlhaussen Prussia/Germany. But no one has gone further back than that. They came to USA in late 1860's/early 1870's.

    3. The Busch family had many children as did their offspring and they seemed to use the same names over and over, Dorothea, Margarette, George, Andreas and so many more. And when they came to North America they went all over, some in U.S. and some in Canada. I think they left Germany before Germany was a country. I know my ancestors came from Germany in an area called the Rhineland-Pfaltz (sp). Hope this is of some help.
