Most, if not all of them, came to Springfield, Dane County, WI via New York. The 1860 Springfield, Dane Co, WI census listed Mathias (67), and sons William (14), John (19), and Jacob (30) with wife Gertrude Schmitz (23), and 2 children Matthew (4) and William (2). By 1860, I know Mathias' sons Christian and Henry had already settled in Helena, Scott Co, MN. (SEE PASSENGER LIST AND 1860 SPRINGFIELD, WI CENSUS BELOW) What is puzzling, I don't know if the others: wife Anna Sophia Ripp, son Peter, and daughter Maria Elizabeth ever made it to WI! Was there an 1855 census done in Springfield, Dane Co, WI? Did Maria Elizabeth ever marry? Did Peter go his separate way from New York? When did Mathias die? (I believe 1860-1870, but would like to narrow it down.) When did Anna Sophia die?
