I do know that Wolf Bush (born 1829) married Esther Samuels (born 1827) both from Germany. At least two or three of their children were reportedly born in California: Minnie born abt. 1857), Joseph, (born about 1858), and Hulda born about 1859. I can find no censuses for them before 1880 in New York. Their other children were born in New York :Henry (Born abt. 1861), Tobias (born abt. 1862), Amelia, aka "Nellie" (born about 1865), George (born abt. 1865), Louis (born about 1868). The 1880 census shows the family living in Milo, Yates, NY. I know that Amelia married Nicholas Dament in Bath, Steuben, NY in 1884. Nicholas died in 1909. He is buried in the Grove Cemetery in Bath, NY. I have only been able to find the 1880 census for the Bush family in NY. It appears that most of her other siblings moved on to the Washington, D.C. area and were usually in the saloon or liquor business(per censuses from 1900 on). I know that Minnnie married a man named Cohen, and Hulda married a man by the name of Dittenhoefer. I am most interested in Amelia and what became of her. I can not find where she or her parents are buried, and I don't see that she was buried at Grove cemetery....I would like to know if she had any children with Nicholas....did she remarry? Did she move? Any help would be appreciated..

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on May 22, 1936, the son of the late Adolphus and Opal (Gerke) Busch. Alvin lived a happy and loving life with his late wife, Karen (Reid) Busch and was always surrounded by family and friends. After retiring as a quality control inspector from Velan Valve Corp., his plans were dramatically altered by the serious illness of his wife and true love, Karen. His warm heart, caring personality and deep love of Karen became readily apparent to all who knew him when, despite his own ailing health and age, he provided Karen with around-the-clock care and support over several long years. His example make it easy for his family to provide the same comfort for him throughout his own illness. He was and will always be remembered, as a true role model for his children, family and friends. Alvin's most treasured moments were spent with his family, including his children, grandchildren (for whom he built a pool) and relatives. He enjoyed trout fishing in the Adirondacks and especially loved bowling. In his final years, he enjoyed the simple things of life such as fine wine and single malt scotch tastings with his brother-in-law, David Reid, barbecues, trips to visit his children in Seattle and Fort Lauderdale, Sunday dinners with Liz and Marty, golf outings with his sons and grandsons, as well as vacations in Mexico, England and Scotland. His warmth, humor, friendship and loving character will be greatly missed and cherished in our memories forever. Alvin is survived by his four children, Joseph (Kain) Busch of Seattle, Wash., Lori (Craig) Duncan of Williston, Vt., Steven (Cynthia) Busch of Plantation, Fla., and Stacey (Michael) Wood of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and by his grandchildren, Adam, Nicole, Joshua and Andrew. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Wilson (Marty Baslow) and their son Jacob of Essex, Vt.; and his sister, Barbara Gregoire of Plattsburgh. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Busch. The family also wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Fletcher Allen Health Care, the Hematology/ Oncology Clinic, especially Angle Hill and the people of the Vermont Nursing Association. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 25th, at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Williston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446 or to the Leukemia/ Lymphoma Society, Upstate New York, Vermont Chapter, 6 Automation Lane, Albany, NY 12205. Corbin and Palmer Funeral Services, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction, Vt., are in care of arrangements. The names I have for the parents of Johann Heinrich (John Henry) Busch, came from the IGI database years ago. They have Peter Heinrich Busch and Catherine Ilsabein Hebrocks. That database listed several other sons: Jobst Heinrich, Casper Heinrich, and Hermann Heinrich. In addition, there were TWO entries for a child named Johann Heinrich Iwith FAR different years of birth for each) so I wonder about their information. There is one unnamed child listed, a daughter named Wilhelmina Louise. The birth years of the named kids range from 1813 to 1824. In the 1880 census John Henry Busch lists his parents birthplaces: father was born in Prussia, mother was born in Lippe (an independent principality not far from Herford, Prussia.) In the summer I was able to get back into some research on this family. I did find additional info on Charles Busch--not at my fingertips right now. But apparently he was living in Henderson County, Illinois for a while as a married man. He did sell out and move away--and we "know" from some records that he ended up in the St. Louis area. I would not be at all surprised if we eventually learn of a connection between these Busch family members. Thanks for posting.

He was born 1817 and his father was Francis Heinrich, mother was I think Elisabeth Henrietta. He came to america in 1845 first to St. Louis and a few years later to Franklin Co. Mo. I don't know any info of his siblings if any. But I thought Johann Henry might be a brother as the names John Henry, Frank Henry, Henry John, and Charles Henry were repeated often in my family. His mother died May 5 1928 in Stoddard Co. MO. William would of been about 1 1/2 years old. After the mother's death, the father couldn't take care of the youger ones. William and James were adopted out. The sister Lois was raised by a friend or family member. When the boys were old enough they were told about their real families and came around to reunions and such. My grandpa was their older brother and he died in 1962 when I was 7. No one really had any reunions or get togethers after that. I didn't know that much about any of this until I got older and started asking questions. Now I want to find William's family. His real parents were William Franklin "Frank" McDaniel and Deltha Ray Snider. Frank was born Aug. 19 1884 and died Aug. 1 1942 in Cardwell MO. Deltha Ray Snider was born March 18 1892 and her parents were Jacob "Jake" Snider and Nancy Jane Blake.

I am Ej and I live in the S.E. part of the USA. Hard to imagine, but in the 5 years since I posted that, I have not discovered anything new. My Papa, is the only living relative on the Busch side that I know. He is almost 90 years old, so I better hurry up. All the Busch folks I knew, all lived in New Orleans, LA. Our family graves are there, and I visit them often. I have taken photos of all the headstones, so I'll either get those photos to you or get the info from them to you. What is your email address? Just to give you an idea of who my Grandma Busch was. I remember her as very strong and capable lady. She played the Organ in the local Episcopal Church, although didn't care for organized Religion. She also worked in a florist shop and later in my life worked in Retail, for fun. Your grandmother Elizabeth Busch, could be the Elizabeth Busch I know as my Great Grandmother. She was my Grandfather's Mother. She was born in Alsass, Lorain, France, as I recall, and will check on that. The date of 1873 sounds familiar, too. As to Great Grandfather Busch, I didn't know him personally, but everyone regarded him as a powerful man who was able to command respect. Everyone loved him and he was popular, you might say. He was a good provider, leader and family man, so he worshiped, if you will, in our family. He was truly the head of the household and the world revolved around him and his needs. My Daddy often speaks of his Grandfather Busch. They all lived together, or next door to each other, during all of Dad's life. My dad was born in 1916. I know my Grandma Busch had several sisters as I listed there, and one was Dorethea. Lets' keep up with each other and thanks for writing. Ej

The reason I ask is because I have a grandmother named Elizabeth Busch who was born around 1873. I believe she was born in Alsass, Loraine, France (occupied by Germany at the time). But she moved all over. She married in Germany, and lived several years in Odessa, Russia by the Crimea Sea. Then immigrated to the U.S. to North Dakota, then to Montana, then finally to Portland, Oregon USA. I know she had several siblings. But the only one I personally know of is her sister Dorothea Catherine Busch, who married a Peter Vendelin Jali. Do you know if this Elizabeth Busch could possibly be related to your family of Busch's? Her death certificate says her father's name is Anton Busch...

I have been corresponding with a man in B C (Bill Busch) who did an enormous amount of checking and gave me the information that I gave to Mary and many others. He did the research thinking it was his family and still thinks we are connected somewhere. He wrote a book and I have a copy and it is titled "The Leonhart Busch Family" If you send me the information that you have I will check it out. He said the reason the people moved around so much was that there was no room for them in the small villages so the eldest son got the house and the rest of the sons usually moved elsewhere.
