David Allen Shirley was b. 1805 SC and bur. LA. Drusilla was born in GA, d. 1856 and bur. Caldwell Parish, LA. Drusilla and David had at least these children: Zachariah Shirley Jemima Shirley Hamilton Shirley b. 1837 Daniel Shirley b. 1839 Wayne Co., MS Edward Shirley b. 1845 Wayne Co., MS Alexander Shirley b. 1848 Wayne Co., MS Laura Shirley Feebe Shirley (Phebe?) David Allen Shirley's brother or 1st cousin, Burrell Allen Shirley married Nancy Busby, who was the daughter of Jeremiah and Phebe (Miles) Busby of Wayne Co., MS. I've looked at the Jeremiah Busby household and there are unanswered questions. Jeremiah and Phebe were married 1818. Here is the census data: 1830 Census Jeramiah Busby 3 males 5-10 = J. Jesse age 7, ?, ? 2 males 10-15 = Miles 15, Nathan 11 (Miles cannot be the son of Phebe) 1 male 30-40 = Jeramiah age 35 3 females to 5 = ?, Mary age 1 or 2, Elenor "Emma" < 1 1 female 15-20 = ? (cannot be the child of Phebe and Jer. if m. 1818) 1 female 30-40 = Phebe age 33 1840 Census Jeramiah Busby 1 m to 5 = Tampson? (or Sampson?) 1 m 10-15 = Leonard 10 1 m 16-20 = J. Jesse 17 1 m 40-50 = Jeramiah 45 3 f to 5 = Nancy (the little Nancy), Elisabeth 1, Emily? 2 f 5-10 = Elenor "Emma" 10, Phebe 6 2 f 10-15 = Mary 12, ? 1 f 40-50 = Phebe 43 The older Nancy, Miles, and Nathan are now married 1850 Jerimiah Busby Jerimiah Busby 55 Phebe Busby 50 (not correct age?) Elenor Busby 20 Phebe Busby 16 Leonard Busby 19 Nancy Busby 13 (the little Nancy) Elisabeth Busby 11 Emily Busby 9 Elisabeth Shirley 10 (could be child of David Allen Shirley, John Shurley, etc?? Prob. not Burrell Allen Shirley's kid) Tampson Shirley or Busby 16 (is Tampson really Sampson? Is he a Shirley or a Busby?) 1860 Phebe Busby Phebe Busby 63 Emma Busby 29 (probably Elenor) Is it likely that either Jeremiah Busby or Phebe (Miles) Busby was married before they married each other? That would explain why Miles Busby is too old to be born in 1818 or after. Can anybody explain who "Tampson" is? Who are the two mystery boys in 1830 age 5-10? Why are there two girls named Nancy? My primary question is who is the girl in the 1830 census who is age 15-20? Could she be Drusilla Busby or just another stray that this family took in?
