    1. [Busbee Busby] Reece/Reeves Buzbee
    2. Hello, I have just subscribed to the list and want to follow up to a letter posted yesterday. After looking further at old Roots' Busby list postings, I find that November 2002 information states fairly definitively that my Eli R. Buzbee descends from a Reece Buzbee, based on Bible records. Reece and Reeves sound quite alike... I hope to visit my library next week to do some additional study in their genealogy department, but, for the present, I have been trying to find anything related currently transcribed in online databases. If this is the Reece whom I have found in some gedcoms as married to a Mary Winn, then I suppose that not all children have been determined. Eli R. Buzbee (1817 SC) named the first son James and the second William; next was my John Hancock (1855 LA), then Mary, Oleanna, George W., Henry, Idella, and Robert A. Sometimes clues can be found in naming patterns... Obviously, based on census I had located, there was a Reece and a Reeves of approximately the same age group, both in SC originally. Reeves sounds like someone named after possibly a mother's family name or perhaps just a good friend or neighbor. It was interesting to me to note on the 1820 Lexington, SC, census page containing Rease Busbee that the next name listed was that of David Segrest. One never knows if the enumerator went exactly in locality order and if the next person was indeed a close neighbor. However, my husband had a G'sGrandfather named as such -- the family coming from SC>GA>AL. Cathy

    3. Hi Cathy, Reese Busby who married Mary Winn is my ancestor. He died in Bibb County, Georgia and he didn't leave a will. He was also known as William Reese Busby. However, we did find two deeds which show the children of Reese Busby and they are selling land to other descendants. We are 95% sure that the people listed on these deeds are his descendants and wife Mary Winn. BTW, I am not sure that Mary is the Mother of all or any of Reese's children. James & Allen are almost certainly not her sons. It was mentioned in Church records, Allen took umbrage because someone said he didn't look after Mary well after Reese's death. He asked for that Michael Howard to be censured. The Church seemed to agree with Michael Howard and they didn't censure him. I don't know the exact age of all of the children nor a marriage date for Reese and Mary. I put this on the Busby Message board: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=surnames.busby&m=685.696 Sandra Riner transcribed this from a deed, found in Houston County. The wives of John Johnson (Lillian) and Nimrod (Elizabeth) Jackson are believed to be Busby's, but we aren't sure if they are closely related to William Reese Busby. Any information would be appreciated. The blank spaces are were the words were unreadable.
