Hello I was able to type in the Will of Benjamin Busbee and also the petition for Ned the slave's freedom. The interesting feature is the cover of the petition mentions Susanah Hague, the petition is signed by Susanah Buzbee. Does anyone know if Hague was Susanah's maiden name? Reese is also on the cover of the petition but doesn't sign it which is interesting. Also it names Lewis Sawyer as a son-in-law of Benjamin Busbee Senior, so Benjamin did have a daughter and probably didn't name all of his children if he had already given them a portion. I don't know whether Benjamin decided he was dying and decided not to be a slave owner when he went to heaven or if Ned was his child. Ned was never freed and that is a sad thought. I did come across another record where Benjamin did sell three other slaves, so I wonder if they took Ned out of South Carolina and freed him later on. Gaila Petition of Susanah Hague Lewis Sawyer Reese Buzbee and Benjamin Buzbee To the Honourable The Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina.
