Dewitt Sr.'s father is Thomas Busby of Richland South Carolina and was Justice of the Peace in Jackson County Alabama. Thomas Busby's father according to my research is Jesse Busby of North Carolina and died in 1810 in Richland South Carolina 5 years after Thomas was born. It is interesting to note that Thomas Busby's sister Demaris Busby is also found in Jackson County Alabama in Court records. mj busby22, Were any of your Busbys in VA in the late 1700's, maybe 1770-1800's? My Matthew Busby married into the Tinsley family of Amherst Co VA in 1803 and I figure he probably lived in VA back then. However, since I don't know who Matthew's parents were and since those early census records only give names for head of household, I am unable to learn more. I do know that Matthew moved his family to Adair Co KY around 1810-1815 where he raised his children and where he died ca 1846. Other than that, I have very little more. I do have info on his family and those families associated with them while in KY. If anyone can offer help, it would be greatly appreciated. Tom' My mother was named Eva Mae Busby she married Lewis D. Harlow. She had two sisters named Lilian Busby Hitt, and Arlene Busby. Eva's father was Robert Lee Busby the three sisters were orphaned or put out as servants. As far as I can tell, my mother worked for the Simms family in Ruckersville, Greene County, Virginia. There may be a tie to Amherst but I haven't found one. I do remember living in Shenandoah, Va., Greene County, and Roanoke, Va. I don't know if there are Kentucky relatives in the Busby line my mother was in.
