I guess I'm blind, but I can't locate the following family on the 1870 & 1880 census records. I tried KY and MO where they were known to be in earlier years and even tried the "ALL" states selection, but got nowhere. William D Busby born ca 1821 KY Mary A " " " 1822 KY Elnora (could be 1845 KY Ellenore) Milton " 1848 KY Eliza " 1853 MO William " 1856 MO Permelia H. " 1858 MO I then reasoned that I should try looking for Milton and Permelia H since I thought their names would be a little less common and I wasn't sure about Ellenore's name. Again, nothing on any of them. I stopped looking when I reached number 1,000th name on the census records and then decided I should ask for help. Am I blind; can anyone find them? Any help would be appreciated. Paula

Did you try just looking for the just first name and age of the youngest child in the county and surrounding counties they were in in the previous census? I have tried this and have found my families when the transcriptions were way off of the last name and the soundex didn't pick up the name I was looking for. Not that I am knocking Ancestry, if that is what you are using ,because I love it myself, but there are alot of transciption errors that are wayyyyyyyyyyyy off of what the name actually is when you go to the actual image. It takes a little longer to check each first name, but sometimes you can hit pay dirt. I even found a Busby on a census where is was transcribed Puspp. Got to the actual image and to me it was clearly Busby, but I guess the transcriptionist didn't see it that way. And then again, I have tried locating my gg grandfather Williams on the 1870 and 1880 censuses and have yet to find him or his family. These reconstruction years were often hard times for many families and census takers missed many households as many families were relocating and or rebuilding lives. Enumerators were often times not welcome either and families shied away from them. Unfortunate for us........... Hi Leana, I can't help with the Busby's in KY, but I do have Williams in my tree. My grandmother was Ida Belle Williams and her parents were Jane McSweeney and Merideth Williams. Do you have them in your family tree? They are from Elliott Co., KY. Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: Leanna J.
