I can only find him in England in 1891 and 1892 censuses, where his birth is shown as "aboard ship, Irish Sea". But can't find him in England in 1842 to 1880s. He had a son James (my grandfather) in 1889 Hockley Birmingham, with a Caroline. He was working as an excavator in 1891. SO I wondered if he might have been borm on ship on the way to Ireland in 1842. Then grew up in Ireland, and came to the Birminggham/Smethwick area in the 1880s, to work as a 'navigator'. I don't have much else to go on. But I wondered if you had an 1842 William Busby that you 'lost' during the 1880s. Sorry to take up your time if this does not relate to your researches.
