    1. [BUSBY] Meredith Busby and Minerva Hunt
    2. L. Newville
    3. I am descended from Elizabeth Jane Busby b. abt 1826 who married Robert A. Gilliam. She was the daughter of Meredith Busby (or "Merriday," as my ggrandfather called him) and Minerva Hunt. Meredith and Minerva Busby lived in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi in 1840. Minerva moved to Lafayette Co., Miss. before 1850. She lived near several families who I suspect are related but cannot prove it. Their children were: Elizabeth Jane Busby b abt 1826, James C Busby b abt 1830, Levi P Busby b. abt 1831, Jerry M Busby b. Apr 1833, Delilah A M Busby b. abt 1835, Jasper Busby b abt 1840, Columbus Richard Busby b. abt 1841, Cynthia Margaret Busby b. abt 1843, Harriet Busby b. abt 1846. At least two of their sons served in the Civil War: Columbus R. Busby died of "Febris Typhiretis" on 9 Nov 1861 at Cubb Run near Centerville, Viriginia. His final paycheck was sent to his mother in Lafayette Springs, Miss. Jerry M Busby also served. My ggrandfather remembered that he lost his finger in the Civil War. I have seen reports on the internet that son James C also served, but I currently have no information. I recently found some old message board posts and mailing list archives. I am trying to contact the researchers who were working on this Busby line. I am very interested in the reports of James Busby's (Meredith's father's) will or probate record and in finding the source of the information that Jeremiah Meredith Busby was born on wolf creek in TN. If you have any information about this, would you please repond? Linda
