I am Bret Busby. The Busby Y-DNA Project web page is at http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Busby . That web page, at the time of my writing this message, includes information about the project, and about the applicable tests, including the costs and procedure. The submission and analysis of DNA samples for determining the probability of linkage to Busby male lines (the Y-DNA analysis) is generally useful for only males with the Busby family name, who, in their genealogical research, show an unbroken male Busby line (eg, my family name is Busby, my father's family name is Busby, my father's father's family name is Busby, my father's father's father's family name is Busby, and so on), as far back as the research records go. In the preceding paragraph, where I have used the name Busby, it is inclusive of its spelling variants (Buzby, Busbee, Bushby, Busbice, etc). As the signature in the message above "No truth without proof", refers to a need for absolute evidence, I remind everyone, including the enquirer, that DNA analysis is probabilistic, and not absolute - it results in a determination of only the probability of a relationship, not absolute proof of a definite relationship. How people interpret the probability, is up to the individual. The Y-DNA analysis, as used in the Busby name Y-DNA Project, is a useful assistance, but is not as absolute as written records, such as those found in Parish Registers, and the records of Births, Deaths and Marriages. I hope that this information is helpful. -- Bret Busby Armadale West Australia ..............
