Carolyn, I agree with you.  Around 1850, some of Mary Margaret's aunt/uncles went into Carroll Co MO, Washington Co KY, Lincoln Co KY, as well as Texas. Family lore has always said that my Matthew Busby's parents were John Busby and Margaret Patterson of Hampshire Co VA but there is no documented proof. This is my biggest brick wall and it may never be knocked down unless someone can help. My Matthew was born ca 1770-1780, unknown where. Parents/siblings, unknown. First known fact is that he married Saluda Tinsley of Amherst Co VA in 1803. Around 1815 or so, Matthew moved his family to KY and settled on or near the Green River in Adair Co. He died ca 1843 in KY. He was married 3 times.....first to Saluda Tinsley; in 1821 to Sarah "Sally" Drake Winfrey (widow of Elisha Winfrey) and 3rd to Mary "Polly" Fair of Lincoln Co KY. His children were as follows: Milton, born ca 1804 born VA Tilford, born ca 1805 "  VA David T, born 1807  "    VA (daughter, Margaret Jane Busby Price of Falls Co TX always told that her gparents were John & Margaret Busby..but no proof) Paulina born 1812   " VA or KY Nancy T born 1815  " KY Matilda born " ca 1817  KY Edward born 1818   KY There may have been a son named William D. Busby from this marriage; born ca 1821. Saluda died sometime around this time frame. If Saluda is not William's mother, then Matthew's 2nd wife, Sarah Drake, was William's mother. There also may have been a daughter born to Matthew & Sarah; name Permelia. This has not been proven. 3rd marriage to Mary "Polly" Fair produced a daughter, born in 1843, named Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Busby. This is proven. Matthew died about this time.  Matthew's children married into the following families: Graves Thomas Hardwick Sweeney Tucker Drake Banks Hall.....Winfrey Jones Like you, I think a lot of KY and MO Busbys are related and would love to hear from anyone who might connect to any of the above people.
