    1. Busby Family, Late 1700's-mid 1800's, VA>KY>TX
    2. There is a John Busby listed in the 1810 VA Census for Hampshire Co. In his family there was one male age 45 or over, 3 females ages 16-25, and 1 female 45 or over. Do you think this is your John Busby with son Mathew already out of the house and off on his own in another county? I am looking for the family of my 3d-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Busbey, who was married in Hampshire Co., WVA to John Wheeler Meredith on 18 Apr 1793. I have indications that she is the daughter of Rev. Elijah Busbey and Mary E. Hite, but no proof. I was interested, therefore, in the fact that your John Busby was from around Hampshire Co., WVA, as you put it. The John in the 1810 census would have been born 1765 or earlier. He does not fit for a candidate for the father of my Elizabeth Busbey, as she was born 7 Jan 1766 (unless he was age 65 or so, which this census does not show), but he could possibly be a brother. Do you have any further clues on Hampshire Co. Busbys? And if you run across any in the future would you shoot them my way? I'd appreciate it very much. One more thing--John Meredith and Elizabeth Busbey migrated to Miami Co., OH, some time after their marriage and settled in the town of Cass. In the Miami Valley Genealogy Index from Miami Valley Website there is a Margaret Busby, b. 1739, d. 1832-fr. gravestone, cem. 1101, Casstown Cem. Very possibly an older relative of my Elizabeth's. On same database there is a listing for a Margaret Busby who married Samuel Gowery in Butler Co in 1815. Don't know if same Margaret who died in Miami Co. Thanks for any clues you might have. Patsy
