HI I just ordered a copy recently from Amazon. I am sure you might be able to buy it directly from Wayne, but I couldn't say. Wayne - are you there? Thank you, Joyce and Gaila, for your kind words about my book, Uncovering the Secrets of a Southern Family: a Memoir. To everyone who asked, it can be purchased on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and others. But the cheapest way, I've found, is through the publisher, authorhouse.com. When you get to their website click on "bookstore", then put "busbice" in the search box, and you will get my book for $12.50 + S&H. Pat and I appreciate the interest we've had from many Busby researchers. We're very pleased at all the positive comments! We considered it a labor of love -- hope you enjoy it. Gaila, How did you get a copy of Wayne's book? Marsha ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Hey Y'all, One of old Benjamin Busbee's descendants and long time list member, Wayne Busbice and his wife, Pat have just written a book. I am reading it right now and I am really enjoying learning about Wayne's childhood in a money poor but love rich 1930's back country farming community, Eros, Louisiana. The love of family, love of music and love of reading and learning epitomise Wayne's story about his Busbice-Busby family. His brother, Buzz Busby, a famous BlueGrass musician started off playing and writing music with Wayne and other family members. Wayne had more mysteries in his genealogy than most and this story unfolds in the book. Wayne and I have spoken over the years and I can hear his voice reach out from the book, and it is so reminiscent of my own grandfather and uncles. The title of the book is "Uncovering the Memoirs of a Southern Family" by Wayne E. Busbice and Patricia Busbice. I know Wayne would be happy to answer any questions. I am so impressed that Wayne and Pat have written a book - I haven't even finished my scrapbook. Congratulations to Wayne and Pat, Thanks and regards, Gaila
I also had the pleasure of reading Wayne and Pat's book last week. I was a child in the depression and I relate to so many of Wayne's memories. This book is one of the best I have ever read. Many of you, like me, may have the following info on the children of Elisha Buzbee: son, Frederick, b. Jan 1792, SC - d.1888, Walton Co, FL daughter, name unknown, about 1795-unknown son, William Henry, about 1805, SC -d. 26 May 1870, Mobile Co, AL Well, while goofing around on the 1885 Florida state census, available at Ancestry.com, I found a "Fredie" Buzbee, age 92, born in SC, living at McDade Pond, Walton Co, FL. Right below him is a woman identified as his sister, named Mathilda, age 85, also born in SC. There are many more younger Buzbees living with them and around them, but I do not have these people in my database. It is possible that this is some other Frederick Buzbee. However, I think this is a good indication on the name of the Buzbee daughter, that she never married, and lived to a ripe old age. I'm going to go look for a Mathilda Buzbee on the other censuses now (and post this info on the other name boards.) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
