Roll call sounds good. Still looking for antecedents of Hiram Busby who married Nancy Vice in 1839, Fleming Co, KY, and then moved to Greencastle, IN, where they raised a family including my great-great-grandfather, Nathaniel. Want to document whether Hiram is son of Rawleigh and climb the tree from there. Have an 8-page (legal size) transcript of Ross and Fern McClure's record; would like to know if this is all they wrote about this family. If anyone has a copy, would like to compare what I have; will pay for copies. Will be most appreciative of any info. Su
I am interested in the family of Mark Busby, listed on the 1850 census of Richland County, South Carolina. In the household are his wife (I presume), Rebecca, and children Jane E., Robert, John, Madison, Harriet, Sarah and Edmund and Mary Ruff (also minors). The collateral line is the Jacob Ramsey family, listed on the same census. Jane Busby married Robert Ramsey, son of Jacob Ramsey. In 1860, Rebecca, Sarah, and Madison are in Calhoun County, Alabama, along with Robert Ramsey and Jane. Don't know what happened to the others and have lost these by 1870. Will appreciate any help. Pauline
Carolyn, I have data on Busby's of Boone Co. Ky, matter of fact, two different Busby, Buzbee families of Boone Co. My data is much earlier than the era you are seeking. One thing that is striking is a Amos Bidwell Busby m. 14 Jan 1847 Boone Co. Ky to Henrietta Vaughn, b. 22 Jun 1825, dau of Francis Vaughn. Henrietta d. 19 Feb 1869 IL. Amos and Henrietta had 8 issue. No Lee Busby is listed. Could Lee of been a nickname?. They had a son Leonidas H. b. 1 Oct 1861. After Henrietta d. Amos m\2 Mrs Louisa Hipple, they had 3 issue. Anything sound familiar??. Patrick H. I favor the idea of a roll call, but since I am new at the researching process, please outline what you would like for us to include. Thanks. My research if for Seaborn Busbee (Busby) of Crawford county, GA b. abt 1833 d. 1864. Married 1st to Frankie Dawsey, 2nd Nancy (Dorsey) Reeves. (Just another guess that Frankie and Nancy were sisters) Children from first marriage Susan b. abt 1850. Children from 2nd marriage, Elias, George Washington, Seaborn B. Busbee. Seaborn, Sr. is believed to be a son of Fredrick Busbee, son of Elisha Busbee. No proof as of yet. Just a guess. Other Surnames include Hancock, Joiner, Ellington, Watson, Hatcher. All are from around the Crawford County, GA area. Any help would be appreciated. Kathy Kendrick
Dear Carolyn: Yes, I have. But mine came from Bathe Co, KY. I have three generations of them in Bathe Co, but unable to find them before 1796 in either Ohio, PA, or NY and they left sometime in the 1850s' for Indiana, then to Minnesota by or before 1865.. My grandmother Zelda Busby Lampman, said they came from the New York area, and may have been Quakers. Another researcher is checking into that now. Greg Lampman <<< Carolyn Daniel 5/ 5 11:51p >>> I have just begun to research my Busby family line. My ggrandmother was Henrietta Busby Tanner b abt 1884 daughter of Lee Busby of Boone County Kentucky. Has anyone ever run across any KY Busby's? Thanks! Hi Barb! Roll call sounds good! I'm still looking for siblings, parents (anyone!:>)) related to my Henrietta Busby. Henrietta was born in 1812 in TN. She married Allen Bethune in Madison Co. on Aug.2, 1830. Her marriage bond was signed by Robert Busby. That same year in Madison Co. Micajah Busby Jr. got married. On the 1830 census Allen and Henrietta were living in Henderson Co. TN as well as Micajah Busby Jr. and his wife. In 1872 Micajah Busby married Mary Barnes in Fulton Co. KY. at that time several of Henrietta's children were also living in Fulton Co. Some of the Busby's left and moved to MO., so did my Bethune ancestors (they did not live in the same counties this time however). Because of naming patterns and movement of the two families I feel sure Henrietta is connected to Micajah. For those of you studying Micajah, do you know if he had a brother named Robert? Is it at all possible that Henrietta was Micajah's daughter? I know this sounds pretty basic to most of you but I haven't made any progress on my Busby line in the year I've been looking. I have lots of Henrietta's descendants and I'll be more than happy to share them. Henrietta lived until 1904 there must be something out there to find. Thanks, Pam Bethune:>)
Yes, I am related to this family. Benjamin Elisha, his son Elisha, Elisha's son Malsie Jane Busby, Elisha's daughter who married George Thomas Criswell 1876 in Pensacola, FL.
Hi Carolyn! I saw some record of your g grandmother (I believe census record) a long time ago. I too am looking for a Henrietta Busby. Supposedly, mine was born in TN around 1812. She married in Madison Co TN in 1830 to Allen Bethune. Robert Busby signed her marriage bond. Allen died in the late 1850's. Sometime around the beginning of the Civil War, Henrietta took her young children and moved to Fulton Co. KY. They stayed there just a couple of yrs. By 1870 they were in Scott Co. MO. They moved west very slowly and arrived in OK in the early 1900's where Henrietta died in 1904. I have always wondered if your Henrietta might have been named after mine or if they might both have been named after the same person. Henrietta wasn't all that popular a name!:>) What do you think? I had heard at one point that there was a Robert Busby living in KY who was about the right age to be her father. Do you know anything about him? Henrietta's first two sons were named after her husband's family, but after that her other sons were named: Josiah, Levi, Henry, Newton, and Robert R. these are not names from the Bethune side of the family.Do any of these names appear in your Busby family? Thanks for your time! Pam Bethune 26 Tierra Vista Plantersville, Tx 77363 409 894-2717
I have no objections to a roll call. Am still looking for Sullivan County. Newtown, Missouri Busby,s. Ray Busby
I have just begun to research my Busby family line. My ggrandmother was Henrietta Busby Tanner b abt 1884 daughter of Lee Busby of Boone County Kentucky. Has anyone ever run across any KY Busby's? Thanks! Carolyn Daniel
BUSBY Roll Call Judge (his name as according to death cert., marriage lic., and family) Benjamin Busby was born 12 Mar. 1886. His death certificate states he was born in Aiken County, SC while the 1920 census says he was born in Georgia. He was first married, to my knowledge, to Nora ???. This is according according to the 1920 census for Jasper County, SC. Nora was born in Georgia. She died in Richmond County, Georgia on 15 November 1920, according to her obituary. Judge and Nora had no children. After Nora's death, Judge moved back to Jasper County, SC and married Alneta McKenzie, daughter of Benjamin Rollin and Nettie Woods McKenzie. This second marriage took place 1 Feb. 1921 in Jasper County, SC. Judge's address at the time is listed as Augusta, Richmond County, GA. according to the marriage license. The couple had 5 children, one who was born after Judge's death. Judge died 23 Mar. 1932, in Tillman, Jasper County, SC. After Judge's death his wife, Alneta, and children lived with Alneta's parents. Judge shows up in the 1910 census in Richmond Co., GA. in the Augusta Jail. He is single at the time. I can find no trace of him or his family in the 1900 census yet. The only other thing I know about Judge Benjamin Busby is that his parents are listed as John or Jack (the writing is faded) and Eliza Busby according to his death certificate. I do not know for sure if Judge had brothers or sisters, aunts or uncles. Although my father in law believes Judge had a sister named Jessie. Jessie Busby married 1st ??? Wallace in Aiken Co., SC and 2nd ?? Outz. Possible first cousins with Judge are said to be Coy and Henry Busby. I hope that someone might be able to offer some help. Hello everyone, I think a roll call is a good idea. I think I am a triple collateral Busby, I am descended from three different Busbee - Busby woman in the same area of Georgia in the mid 1820 time frame. The name of the little town was Busbyville, Ga. near the conjunction of Bibb, Crawford and Houston Counties. Charity Busby Schofield (b 1807, SC)was the daughter of William Reese Busby and Mary Winn. William Reese Busby came to Bibb Co, Ga by 1824. He was named in the will of Benjamin Busby of Orangeburgh District of SC. Benjamin was said to have come from Maryland to SC and several papers had him being at the age of 115 years old when he died. Lillie Busby Johnson (b circa1800, SC) is listed in family information as a Busby from Aiken, SC married John Johnson. Her husband bought land from the estate of William Reese Busby in conjunction with Nimrod Jackson married to Elizabeth Busby. No parents have been proved for Lillie Busby. Tempie Busby Howard (b 1794, SC) came to Houston Co by 1830. She married Michael Howard c 1821. She has sons named Tillman, Stancel, Wade Hampton and Richmond Hampton. There were other Busby families in the District (Captain Busby's District): Nathan, Jacob, Matthew, Allen and Daniel. William Reese was not too far away in Lower Bibb County. Elisha, Seaborn and Zachariah were also close by in Crawford County. This was a triangle of Busby farms. The spelling of the names is shown as Busby, Busbee, Buzbee, and Busbayville all refering to the same people. Any help connecting these Busbys would be a big help. Thanks Gaila
Anyone researching this ancestor please email me private, I have a cousin wanting to get in touch but does not have a computer or internet access. Barbie
