    3. Ok folks the have it fixed but then we found another glich, the link back to the homepages does not work on most of them, queries right now is the only one working. Gaila and I are trying to stay on top of this thing. It was such a shock, that neither one of us has had time to really put it through its paces so if you find one please let us know so we can get it fixed right away. The Rootsweb staff are working double time to get all these things fixed so you guy can benefit from them. Now for those researching the BISBEE family who have been sharing with the BUSBY/BUSBEE family, they have a set started for your surname. If noone takes it will just added it on to the Busby list and homepage even tho not sure if same family or different. So rest assured we are not going to leave you guys in a lurch with no home. The same thing goes for the Busbin family. Right now things are so confused, that I feel like a fish out of water. But we are in better shape than most, our varients is spelling are very small compared to some. Will keep you updated as thing progress. Barbie

    3. Ok, guys for what it worth this is the latest from RootsWeb. But there is a slight glich on our cluster at this moment which I am hoping will be taken care of soon. We were only told yesterday but hope it will be cleared up. If you find any others please let us know so we can let the powers to be know. So far the glich is only in the GenConnect boards. You can still access them from the Homepage and GenConnects List. We are hoping it is fixed soon. Enjoy!! Barbie NEWS AND NOTES AT ROOTSWEB ROOTSWEB PUTS IT TOGETHER. Have you ever wished you could look up *everything* at RootsWeb that relates to a particular surname? Now you can! Click on the new option SURNAME RESOURCES at RootsWeb's main page <http://www.rootsweb.com/> or go directly to: <http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/>. Click on the letter of the alphabet for the surname of interest, and then select it from the list that appears. This will take you to a "surname resource cluster," where you can search for your surname in numerous databases. For example, using BANKSTON you would find: <http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/b/a/BANKSTON/>, where you could search "B" WEB SITES, the OBITUARY DAILY TIMES, or: o The ROOTSWEB SURNAME LIST (RSL). RSL search options are by surname, Soundex, or Metaphone (the latter two are "sounds- like" matches). You can search for updates from the past two months, last month, last week, or for any mention. o TRANSCRIPTION PROJECTS. You might check to see if your immigrant ancestors' names are listed at the Immigrant Ship Transcribers Guild (ISTG). o PRIMARY RECORDS AT ROOTSWEB (from USGenWeb Archives and RootsWeb Searchable Databases). o GENERAL LINKS AND SEARCH ENGINES. There are three options. o ROOTSLINK link registry. You can add a new link also. o SEEKER search engine, which returns surname matches from Web pages -- there is much "hidden genealogy" that this search will help you find. o SURNAME HELPER search engine finds queries and surname registrations posted at various genealogically-related sites on the Web, with participating sites including many USGenWeb and WorldGenWeb sites. All GenConnect boards are indexed in Surname Helper. o MAILING LISTS. Descriptions of lists that relate to this surname, subscription instructions, and links to the archives so you can search or browse past postings. o GENCONNECT. Click on GLOBAL SURNAME SEARCH to find queries that mention the surname of interest that are posted in connection with any county, state, or country in the world. Or click an icon for one of the seven automated boards that together make up a "suite" of boards available for surnames and localities (Queries, Bible records, Biographies, Deeds, Obituaries, Pensions, and Wills). RootsWeb hopes that putting these links under one SURNAME RESOURCES roof will help everyone find all the buried treasure. * * * LATE-BREAKING NEWS. Late in the day on 26 May 1999, Pam Carey Durstock announced: "All done! Complete list of cluster surnames can be found at <http://resources.rootsweb.com/namelist.txt>" 41,000+ GenConnect boards created. 3,000+ Mailing lists created. 6,692 Calendars created. 6,692 Guestbooks created. 6,692 Cluster pages created and (re)generated. * * * GLOBAL SEARCH ENGINE FOR GENCONNECT. Randy Winch just installed the latest upgrade to the Global Search Engine for GenConnect. New Features: expanded search capabilities, including ability to restrict the search to a certain "type" (query, Bible record, bio, deed, obit, pension, will). Sort by date, location, person posting, or subject (and also by ascending or descending order); Posted in the last: day, two days, week, two weeks, month, two months, three months, six months, year, two years, or millennium; Search all of GenConnect, just one country, or just one state. All of these can be used in conjunction with each other in order to fine-tune your search. But, if you want it all, the results are now split into first 50, next 50, etc. Powerful! <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi?search> * * *

    1. Mormon Church Puts Genealogy Data Online
    2. May 23, 1999 4:46 p.m. EDT Mormon Church Puts Genealogy Data Online Salt Lake City-AP -- You can get everything else on line, so why not your ancestors? A new Web site put up by the Mormon Church officially kicks off tomorrow. It will contain links to 400 million names of people -- going back to the year 1500. Also, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' will add millions more names later this year, using its records on two billion dead people. The Web site has been accessible since the church began testing in April. A new and improved version will be unveiled formally tomorrow in Salt Lake City. The creator of a popular index of genealogical Web sites calls this a ``real boon.'' And Cyndi Howell of Washington state adds that the new Web site is like ``bringing Disneyland into your home.''

    3. I have an obituary published July 31 or August 1. 1898 for an Aurelia N. Miller in either the Morning Call or the Evening Call. Where published? It states that Aurelia N. Miller, a native of Switzerland was born in 1828, and died July 31, 1898. That she moved to this city??? in 1852 from Monticello, FLORIDA. Services were held at the Church of the Holy Family by Rev. Father Shadewell and internment was in Linwood Cemetery. Also, that she was the aunt of J.H. Busbey of the Call Publishing Company. Also, I have what appears to be a Catholic Mass Notice for a Mary Anna Busbey, a native of France, who departed this life December 25, 1874 at the age of 52 years. In the Oakland Cemetery , Shreveport, Caddo Parish, LA their is a footstone for M. A. Busbey d.o.b. August 28, 1824, d.o.d. December 25, 1874. Next to this footstone is one for J. H. Busbey, d.o.b. June 28, 1814, d.o.d. June 30, 1854. Another Catholic Mass Notice found in the Busbey Family Bible: "In Sacred Memory of Mary Anna Miller (maybe spelled Millor) a native of France, who departed this life April 13th, 1848. Aged 57 years, 5 months, 27 days. I believe that Mary Anna Miller, was the mother of Mary Ann Busbey and Aurelia N. Miller. If so, then Mary Anna Busbey was the wife of J. H. Busbey (all I have are initials) and they had the following children: Thomas Jefferson Busbey, d.o.b. April 10, 1852 in Covington, St. Tammany Parish, LA. d.o.d. July 12, 1925 in Shreveport, Caddo, LA. m. to Virgina "Jennie" Deal.in Shreveport, LA Joseph Leon Busbey d.o.b. March 30, 1849in ? d.o.b. Sptember 28, 1908.m. to Mae Pobst in Shreveport, LA William H. Busbey, d.o.b. May 29, 1853 in ? d.o.d. September 5, 1926 in Shreveport, Caddo, LA and I think a Hamilton Busbey d.o.b. ? in ? d.o.d. in(who supposedly died either in a Pressman's Home in Pressmans Home, TN. Can anyone help me document the Millers' connection to J. H. Busbey and help me find the location of "The Morning or Evening Call"? Also, what county is Monticello, FL in.? I have more info on the descendants of Thomas, Joseph and William. Thanks for anything that may help. Edwina edwina.owen@usa.net
