Sorry, I don't know where they were in Florida. The only thing I know is that my grandfather worked in a cannery somewhere in the state. This Busby/Busbee stuff is pretty fascinating! I really don't know much about my family back any further than my grandfather. I seem to remember that he lived in Florida for awhile too, but he & his family moved back to northwest Iowa sometime in the 1920s or 1930s. Unfortunately, my dad died earlier this year so I can't ask him any more questions about the family. He and I weren't in very close contact after he & my mom divorced so a lot of what I'm remembering about the Busby family comes from things he told me when I was quite young, back in the mid-1960s. Joyce, if your grandfather died after 1920, and you know the state where he died, you might want to order a copy of his death certificate. The death certificates have helped me out quite a bit. It should list both parents name (mother's maiden) along with county, city, state where your grandfather was born. kathy

Hmmm... Did Joe have any brothers? My grandfathers name was Thomas Sion Busby, he died in 1971 and was married to Rachel Stephens. Grandpa is buried in Oowalla Cemetery northeast of town, pretty close to where we live. My grandparents had 12 brothers and sisters, several of which are deceased. I do have an aunt, Delia Boyd that I am very close to and hope to try and get some information from her. Thanks for your response! Robert, I think Falls County is close to Limestone/Freestone County, Tx. I am looking for Busby family members who might have been in that area around the mid 1800's. I'm looking for a Rebecca Busby who might have lived nearby about 1852 or so. Said to have had a daughter, Martha Kyle "Mattie" Groover in 1855. Inman Busby was the son of William Reese Busby and Mary Winn. He lived and married in the Houston Co -Bibb Co- Crawford County area and married Penelope Wood. He moved to Alabama by 1869 as witnessed in the deed: Oct 18, 1869: Isaiah Johnson purchased 40 acres of Lot #42 from Philip Scofield of Houston Co and Inman Busbay of Randolph Co. Ala. (for $160).
