    3. >From what mom says we are at that! I took your e-mail home and showed it to my mom last night and she couldn't remember your name. My mom, my husband and our little boy went to a family reunion at Aunt Ruby's sisters house here in Claremore within the last month or so. This sounds like a stupid question... but were you there. Mom always introduces me to people when I go to those things and I have no clue who they are or how I am related to them. She usually rattles off some kind of lineage and I just stand there with this blank look on my face, I guess she thinks I'm following her?? At any rate, my name is Connie Barnes. I am Grover and Delaphine's youngest of four children. I have three older brothers and we all live here in Claremore. I have been helping mom research her side of the family and she had expressed some interest in researching Daddy's side of the family to find out if there was any indian heritage there or not. I've just began and am only doing it in my spare time. I would love to visit with you sometime and we can share information. My home number is (918) 342-5495. Look forward to hearing from you!

    2. Tom Dunklin
    3. Good Morning Busby Rootsweb Members: I have had no luck in finding my Rebecca Busby. It's been some time since I've posted my last query, so I thought I would post my information again. Rebecca was born c. 1810-1825, unknown where. Between 1852 and 1855, she supposedly married William W. Groover. This may have been in Texas where William was living at the time or maybe in Ga where William was born. She was said to be the 2nd wife of William, so it is possible that Busby was not her maiden name. In 1855, she and William had a daughter named Martha Kyle "Mattie" Groover, born unknown location. Since Martha Kyle( "Mattie") married Thomas Charles Ramsey in Cotton Gin, Texas in Freestone County, it is likely that she was born in Tx. Sometime after 1855, William married a 3rd time and it is in this marriage that I think he married my unknown first name gg grandmother Banks. I do not know what had happened to my gg grandfather Banks by this time...divorce or death?? William brought "Mattie" with him into this marriage, (so my family history says,) so I don't know what had happened to Rebecca...again, divorce or death. I am unable to locate any marriage or death records for these people for more information about birth or marriage locations. Is there any one researching a Busby family that can make a connection for me? The Busby name may be spelled Busbee or in other ways. I've been looking for a long time; sure hope someone can help me. Thanks, Paula Dunklin

    3. Someone sent me this obit for Benjamin Busby. My ancestor Reese Busby b circa 1775 was supposed to be his son. Named in Benjamin's will, the problem is that if the Obit is true Benjamin would have been born in 1700 and Reese was born in 1775, is it likely for a 75 year old man to father an infant? Of course, if he lived to be 115 years old - then he may have been virile til at least 80. He was also supposed to be in the Revolutionary War...at 76? How accurate would a newspaperman have been?? Thanks Gaila Benjamin Busby: Found a obit notice for a Benjamin Busby in the Edgefield, SC obit book. Here is what is printed. Issue of October 29, 1815 Died on the 6th inst. in Edgefield District, Benjamin Busby, a native of Maryland, aged 116 years; he resided in this state 70 years, was perfectly healthy unitl a few days before his death.

    3. Joyce, Kathy, Drew In my files I have a Harry Clark Busby b 26 Jun 1876 Indianpolis IN d 26 Mar 1953 Los Angeles CA md/1 Clara A Gilmore md/2 Alice H. Marcellus md/3 Martha M. Harris. Known Children: Harry Gilmore b 1900 CA, Haywood b 1918 CO, Vernon A. b 1922 CO, and Clara Elizabeth b 1924 CA Harry Clark is suppose to be the son of William VanBuren Busby b 1835 Gloucester Co VA. and Louisa Clarke b 1848 MS. There is some debate on William middle name being VanBuren or Vernon. There is also a question of race. William V. died in Texas but was buried in Los Angeles CA. On the cemtery records he is listed a Black. Harry Clark as family oral history goes had disowned his father and never spoke of him. The researcher who passed this own stated that because his father was mixed is the reason he disowned him as he was passing for white. Now how true this is remains to be proven or disproven. 2. Kathy, that is the sad part.....we have no idea when he died or where. In 1936 my mother and grandparents went to Leadville,Colorado from Florida to look for work. One day while my grandmother was at work my grandfather took my mother and went to Ouray, Colorado to look for a job. My mother got sick and he left my mother with a doctor in Colorado to find a job and that was the last time she saw him. When he did not return the doctor reported him missing and the law sent my mother home to Holt, Florida to my live with my great-grandmother until my grandmother could get back from Colorado. My mother was 8 years old. Other than posting I have run out of ideas. I only know his birth date and birth place and he had two half brothers, one of the brothers had a daughter with a mental handicap who lived in Laurel, Mississippi. If you have any ideas please let me know. thank you so much for your reply, Joyce
