Jeannie, Your Busby's are not to be found in the book. I think it's interesting though that your Martin was born in SC and ended up in Arkansas... Do you have any of his siblings, or parents. Ezekiel Busby, Jr. of my line was born in SC. Migrated through Indiana, and then finally to Arkansas too. Sincerely, Jodi Cubbage

Jay, Unfortunately, No mention of your Silas Tilman Busby in the book. I looked of course, for his wives as well. Just in case he was listed under a variation of the name, and couldn't locate any of the ladies either. Looks like all our brick walls will stand for a while longer....<grin> Sincerely, Jodi
Michael, Yes, thank you, I have also found the 2 Ezekiel Busby's you mentioned. I have been able to determine that the 2 Ezekiels in Mississippi are not mine. But the possibility of being cousins shouldn't be written out. How old was the Ezekiel Sr. on the 1850 Census of MS? Do you have any information on his ancestry? Maybe by taking another angle, I will stumble across my Ezekiel in another family... Sincerely, Jodi
How about a Silas Tilman Busby. He was born in March 3 1834 in SC and moved up into Oklahoma and Kansas. He was married 3 times that I can tell. His wives names were Mary Elizabeth Melton, Pearlina ? and Sarah Elizabeth Maynard Busby. I know of one of his homesteads was in Oklahoma it was next to the Will Rogers place in Northeastern Oklahoma. He is listed on a couple of census records showing land and family but I can not find anything of his death in March 4 1901 or were he might be buried. There were many children and would be happy to send those too if needed THANKS and Any help would be great, I too have hit a dead end and was letting things rest a while. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Gonfishnc@aol.com> To: <BUSBY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 25, 1999 10:35 PM Subject: The Indubititible Busby's > I have a copy of the book "The Indubitibitle Busbys", and would be happy to > do lookups in it, as time permits. Dear Jodi, There is also an Ezekiel BUSBY enumerated in the census of 1850 and 1860, Pike Co., MS. His birthplace was given as NC, He also had a son Ezekiel, Jr. Junior, b. 1839, d. 1898, was buried in Lincoln Co., MS, and his home was in Brookhaven, MS. From MS Confederate Grave Reg., MS Gen. Exchange #26, 1980, pg. 119. Ezekiel, Jr. and his brother, William T. served with Co. A, Garland's Battalion MS Cavarly, both as privates. Michael Lee Busby
Jodi, thank you so much for your hasty reply and all your help. It has been so hard to understand how someone can just vanish. I will keep trying maybe someday, somehow something will break loose. God Bless you and yours, Joyce
Hello I have Georgia Busbys, but I don't seem to link to this family at first glance. Elizabeth Chatterlee has some Shelby, Ala Busbys and it sounds like they are related to this line. My Georgia Busbee (Busby) family seemed to come from Orangeburgh, SC from Maryland. This is 100 % proved yet though. Try Pueblo, Colorado there are some Busbys in that area, and the town has became a good place to live any more. Callie
Joyce, Unfortunately I find no one by the name of Vernon Edward Busby in the book, no Vernons no Edwards, nor any Fred's.(Figured I'd look that up too, just in case) Just on an off chance I did check the phone book here (Colorado Springs, Colorado) for your Vernon Jr. But didn't find him listed in there either. Figured it was worth a try though.... Most regretably, Jodi
I am researching Vernon Edward Busby nickname Fred born November 24, 1903 in Florala, Alabama. He had two half brothers, Bill and Henry they lived in Laurel, Mississipi, in 1920's one of the brothers had a handicap son. Possible Vernon's first wife and two daughters died with malaria in Laurel Hill or Dorcas, Florida. He had a tatoo on each arm and one star on the back of one hand. He went to Arizona to work some then he just traveled around the world working on large farms. He was last seen in Colorado in 1939. He married Lizzie Mae Spurlin on July 3, 1926 in Holt, Florida and they had one child, a daughter, in 1928. I found a Vernon Edward Busby Jr, who was married in the 1990's in Colorado, can not locate him. I was wondering if anything would be in that book to help me. Thanks, Joyce
Marie, I find no reference to a Linda Jane Busbee in the book "The Indubitable Busbee's", there is one reference of a William Allen, a passage written about the battles at Maryland Heights, Sandy Hook and Weaverton. The battle of South Mountain, and seizure of Crampton's Gap and Pleasant Valley.--the passages originally appeared in "The Army of Northern Virginia, 1862"... don't know if these might be written by your William Allen or not, but would be happy to copy the pages and snail mail to you, or type out and email. You let me know if you think this might be the right person.... It tells nothing of him, just what was written by him. Sincerely, Jodi
Thank you for your offer to do look ups: Linda Jane Busbee was born at Arkadelphia, Alabama. She married William Isaiah Allen who died November 1863 in the Civil War at Lookout Mountain. He was born Mississippi Territory 1839. They had two children - James (Jim) Marion Allen b. 1861 and Mary Elizabeth Allen b. 1862 Linda Jane Busbee had a nervous break down after William Isaiah Allen died. Some of her people came and got her. The children remained with the Allen family and it seems that they never saw their mother again. Any information you might find on Linda Jane would be much appreciated. I myself are looking for a John C. Buzbee b abt 1840 GA s/o James W. Buzbee and unknown. He is listed on the 1860 Desoto Co MS Census but then disappears. Did you check to see if he was in the CSA. There may be pension records if Pollyanna filed for a widows pension.
