    1. Re: [BUSBY] Robert E. Busby
    2. Wanda Mobley
    3. Robert Almore Busby was indeed a half brother to Andrew Jackson. He was my great grandfather. He died on February 3, 1960 in Artesia, Eddy County, New Mexico . He was buried next to his wife Annie Eligia Rayford Busby in Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia. Nathan, his father married 3 times. Not sure I remember all the details right now but I think his first two wives were named Margaget. One was a Queen and not sure that we know the surname of the other... I could be wrong with out looking and I do not have the time right now.... Roberts mother was hired as a house keeper after Nathan came home from the Civil War either wounded or very ill. His partent hired her to help with the little one still at home... I do remember the two just older than Robert was twins. Anyway he married the housekeeper, Rebucka Jane Gray in Jan, 29 of of 1871. In November of 1872 he died either of Typhode Fever or war wounds (there are several stories out there.) Robert was born November 2, 1871. After Nathans death Rebucka once again sought and got a job as a housekeeper and this is what she done the rest of her life. Robert did not know he had sibling until much later in life when one of the twins found him. Even then I am not sure that he knew about the number of siblings he had. As far as I know he met the one brother once in his life. He married and had four children... 3 sons and a daughter.l ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <BUSBY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 01, 2008 10:55 AM Subject: Re: [BUSBY] Robert E. 3. Does anyone have any information on a Levi Busby? He had two sons--Thomas and Joseph. Thomas lived in Arkansas towards the end of his life but earlier on they all lived in Mississippi. Thomas and Joseph are purported to be the sons of a slave woman. Levi later remarried someone else who's name I don' tknow. Thanks for any help you have to offer. 1. [BUSBY] NEED TO CONTACT EXPERT ON WILLIAM MONTGOMERY FAIR FAMILY/POLLY BUSBY IN LINCOLN CO KY 1800's
    2. TOM F DUNKLIN
    3. At the risk of becoming annoying because of my frequents posts, I need to contact someone who has a comprehensive William M. Fair or Naomi Jones family tree. I'm having a little difficulty documenting a connection between the Fair family, the Jones family and my Busby family. My most urgent need is the complete/correct names for the children of James M Fair and Elizabeth May. Here is where I'm stuck: Did William Montgomery Fair have a sister named Mary or Margaret or Polly? Was this sister ever married or connected to the Bingaman(?) surname? Was William's wife, Naomi Jones, ever connected to a Belle Jones or a Major or Samuel Jones? I'm not sure if Major was a given name or a military title. My ggg gfather was Matthew Busby from Adair Co KY. He came to KY from somewhere in VA, most likely from Amherst or Hampshire Co, VA. The Kentucky Marriage Record shows that in 1841, he (or perhaps it could have been a different Matthew??) supposedly married a Margaret Bingaman in Lincoln county. Was this Margaret really Mary or Margaret Fair? I've been told that Polly Busby is buried in McKinney Cemetery but I can't find her listed there. Can anyone verify that she is really there? Matthew is not there but I feel that he was probably buried on his farm land. According to estate records, Matthew and Polly Busby had a daughter in 1843 named Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Busby. Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) later lived with Polly Busby, Jane Fair and Elizabeth (Porter?) Fair in Hustonville, Lincoln Co KY. They are on the 1850 census there and William Montgomery lives next door. William and Naomi lived close to Betsy on suceeding census records, as well. Betsy married a Major Samuel Jones ca 1860. They named a daughter Naomi, and another daughter, Nancy B Jones. Mary (Polly) Busby lived with Elizabeth "Betsy" and Major S Jones for many years. On some records, Elizabeth Ann was referred to as Betty, Bettie, Bette, etc. Names connected to the Fair and Jones families in various ways are: Garrett David McCarty; Winford Bailey Hill; Benedict Spaulding Hill; Thomas Pickney Hill; Fannie (Frances??) Peyton; Wilson Jones, and Nancy Johnson, among others. Hope someone can help, Paula

    3. Hello, I have received several messages recently inquiring about South Carolina Busby families. I can't find your message. Tell me again what is your line. My grandmother was Buelah Inez Busby born in Columbia, South Carolina. Her parents (Jacob Nathan Busby and Margaret Ann Pullig) moved to Bienille Parish, Louisiana when my grandmother was a small child. I have the line traced back to several generations.
