Author: John8058 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1130.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Susannah Rebecca Betterton Busby died in Anderson County between 1900 and 1910. She was living with her daughter, Lugenia Busby Chastain and her husband, Stephen Chastain in the Rockmills district as shown in the 1900 census of Anderson County. I think she is buried with Andrew Jackson. As to Andrew Jackson Busby's parents, James Busby, the son of Thomas Busby, was born in Newberry County in 1798. His Wife, Nancy Boozer, daughter of Frederick and Mary Ann Babara, was born in Newberry County in 1805. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: aorrocks_1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1130.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't have a death date or place for Susannah Betterton. I would suspect that she died in Anderson County, SC and probably buried with her husband AJ Busby. From others' research, they are buried at Asbury Methodist Cemetery. I have gone by the cemetery and if they are buried there, it is in an unmarked grave. I have hit a brick wall at AJ's father, James, and mother Nancy (unknown last name). Do you have further information that you would like to share? Thanks, Tony Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: MortnCyn Surnames: Busby Dowdy Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1229.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Doing research on Jeremiah Dowdy I found that one of his daughter's, Louisa, married a James H Busby 16 Oct 1888. His first wife is shown as unknown. The 1900 census for Mississippi County Missouri has James H with wife Lu. This would possibly be short for Louisa. In 1880 Louisa Dowdy was shown as Luiza. The 1900 census family lists Oscar, Irene, Dorris, and Earl. Luisa's age at 34 agrees with her age as shown in 1870 and 1880 census for Jeremiah Dowdy and family. Regarding James Busby's death, there may not be a record. Many Mississippi County, Missouri records were lost as I recall in a courthouse fire. Question has arisin if Margaret and Charity are one and the same. e-mail from Jeff Busby: I dont believe that Benjamin and Nathaniel Busby are brothers. Nathaniel shows up in the 1750's in Johnston co. NC buying land with his brothers Thomas, William and John Busby. They are all buying land next to each other and live there for a while. In the 1770's Nathaniel moves to South Carolina and thats where he dies in 1801. His brother Thomas ends up in Wake co. NC and dies there in the early 1800's. His other brother John ends up in cumberland co. NC and dies in 1779. Supposedly there dad was Thomas Busby from the Potomac River, Virginia and moved the family to Johnston co. NC in the 1750's because there all buying land next to each other. I dont think this Benjamin Busby is his brother because he never shows up in NC. When does Benjamin first show up buying land in South Carolina? I wonder if he might be a cousin or maybe his dad's brother. Nathaniel is born around 1720's, his son Needham sais he is born in 1752 in Johnston co. NC on his revolutionary war pension he applied for in 1832 from SC. and I think he is Nathaniel's oldest kid. Nathaniel's brothers Thomas, William and John are born around the 1720's. This is the info that I have.
