Dottie, I am looking for Madison co. Alabama Busby's,this is where some of mine were.Any help appreciated!Thank you!Glenda
Hi Stephanee, I have done some research on this William Busby. In Jefferson co. Tenn there is only a Thomas Busby there from 1793-1819 he moved from Cumberland co. NC. Then in 1819 Thomas moved to Jackson co. Alabama next to his brother John. What is interesting is that in the 1850 Lawrence co. Missouri census William sais he is born in NC. Then on the 1870 Lawrence co, Missouri census he sais he is born in SC. I think he might be the son of this Thomas Busby and that he might be from NC instead. On the 1830 Adair co. KY census William is living next to Josiah Sparks who is 70-80 years old and next to a Lane and Trenton Sparks that are his sons. This is probably Sarahs father. The War of 1812 pension sais that William Busby is married to Sarah Sparks in 1815 in Jefferson co. Tenn. and that Wiiliam is living in Lawrence co. Missouri in 1851 and 1871 and dies in 1884. Hope this helps.
Marsha, This David could be the son of Robert Busby on the 1820 Humphreys co. census sais that he only has 1 son under 10. David is on the 1840 Benton co. Tenn. census which is next to Stewart and Humphreys co. I have not been able to find out any of Roberts daughters they are harder to find out unless you have marriage records. The information that I posted was pretty much all I have on Robert Busby. Jeff Busby Boise, Idaho

My ancestor, Demaris Busby was born in S.C. in 1808. Her father was Jesse who died in Richland Co. S.C. in 1810. She came to Madison co. AL. with her mother and sisters and later lived in Marshall Co. AL. She married Dr. Presley Woodall. Her sister Kezziah married Jacob Kennemer. The Kennemers and Busbys seem to marry eachother often. Do you know who Jane's father was and did he have a brother named Jesse? Lallie
Wynona Moon: If you find any info on early Madison County, AL Busby's, please let me know. One source taht can not be verified indicated that Sheppard Busby may have been born there and then his family moved to Washington Co.,AL. Dottie
I am trying to figure out which county in SC my William Busby was from. I have been guessing it is around the Union county area. He was born about 1792 in SC. By 1815-1817 he was in Jefferson County, TN, where he married Sally Sparks. The Sparks family was from Union county. They were in KY (Adair Co), about 10 years later, and were in Lawrence Co., MO by 1850. I have decided to use my family research for a master's thesis. I'm examining migration patterns. Knowing his county will definitely help. I've ordered pension info on his (War of 1812) and I'm hoping there is useful info. there. Their children were: Anne, Matilda, Miles, Joseph, Samuel, Thomas, William, Jane, Polly, Martha, Elizabeth. I've seen several postings discussing Miles, I wonder if he is a brother or something. His son, William, has a middle name of Flowers. In a bio. published in one of those county histories, it mentions that as a child they grew tobacco. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Stephanee Smith stsmith@iw.edwpub.com

Hi, I am very interested in the info in the email below mine regarding Sherad, Robert & Micajah Busby. I believe Robert to be my ggggrandfather. I only have one of his sons, David busby born 1810 TN according to census records. David married Lucy Lively (I believe) b. TN 1820, marriage probably about 1838 as the first child listed in the 1850 Humphreys Co. TN census was born c1840. The children are listed as follows: Lively J. b. c1840-female Robert b. c1842 Frances b. c1844-female Wade H. b. 9/1845-MY GREAT GRANDFATHER Daniel b. c1847 David (Jr.) b. c1849 Later Elizabeth & Susan were born. The way I found Wade's father, David was due to an old tale my mother tells me. Her father George Franklin Busby told her that his father, Wade, used to tell her father's brother James that his real name was "James Alexander Robert Daniel David Denton Majors Newton Busby. She thought it was just a joke but I figured it was a clue to the past. I finally found a David Busby with children Robert, Daniel & Daniel...Wades wife's, Clarinda Plumlee has a brother named Denton, Lively J. married a Newton Capps and I imagine perhaps Frances married a man named Majors but haven't found that yet. All those names would be uncles either by blood or marriage. I haven't yet found the Alexander or confirmed the Majors but it pays to listen to your elders in our research. They have clues and don't even know it. I figured that the Robert Busbee in the 1850 Stewart County TN census was the father of David due to David's his first son being named for David's father, the first daughter's name being Lively I felt had to be Lucy's last name and found a D.F. Lively in Humphreys Co. TN married to a Susan (stepmother to Lucy), the name of David's last daughter (that I have found). Also their daughter, Frances is named for David's mother. I believe Frances, wife of Robert, last name might be Howard but I am not positive. As to Sherad, I have seen him in my searches and somewhere, don't know where, I read that sometimes his name is spelled Sherwood and that might his correct name. If you pronounce the name Sherwood fast or with an accent you could easily come up with Sherad. Stewart County used to be part of Humphreys county or vice versa...have to look at my notes. I don't think the David Busby in Lincoln County, TN in an earlier census can be my David. There is also another Wade Busby married to a Martha Sweeny that is not my Wade. David and family must have spent some time in MS as all David's children up to David Jr. were born in TN except for Wade who was born in MS. David moved his family to Arkansas sometime between 1850 & 1860 as the 1860 AR census shows him married to a Mary who already had children, Jensey and Milton. I have info on David, Wade and Wades decendant's but would be very interested in Wade's (once spelled Waid in a census) brothers and sisters and Robert and Frances's other sons and daughters plus the parents of Robert, Sherad and Micajah.
