My ancestor, Jane Busby was born in S.C. in 1806 married Steven Kennemer about 1822 I believe in madison Co. Al. I do not have anything of her parents except Kennemer books says Nathaniel and Charity Haines Busby. I have seen the name Demaris Busby. Thanks Wyona Moon --[ ORIGINAL MESSAGE ]----------------- My ancestor, Demaris Busby was born in S.C. in 1808. Her father was Jesse who died in Richland Co. S.C. in 1810. She came to Madison co. AL. with her mother and sisters and later lived in Marshall Co. AL. She married Dr. Presley Woodall. Her sister Kezziah married Jacob Kennemer. The Kennemers and Busbys seem to marry eachother often. Do you know who Jane's father was and did he have a brother named Jesse? Gaila, Thanks for posting this information. I believe it was you who shared this information with me previously. Regards, Howard
Michael, Thanks. I know now where that is. I was born in Mobile. Howard
Hello everyone, I don't have my papers with me, but I think one source of this information was Leonardo Andrea files. I also found this obit on Ancestry.com (to the best of my recollection). I tried to find more information on Benjamin, but couldn't find any more. I am descended from Reese Busby, believed to be the Reese Busby in Benjamin's will. If there were a Benjamin of the correct age to be Benjamin Sr son (wife Suzannah) then I think Reeses' father must have predeceased Reese's grandfather or left his sons with his father. The idea that our Benjamin had his sons in the eventide of his life is hard to believe, but not impossible. I will continue to look for another explanation. I do agree this is what the obit is credited with saying. The Andrea files for Busby are on the Busby Home Page. It's good to be back on line. This obituary would be of great help with this genealogy if Howard would identify the source. With all of these details and a date of publication revealing a death date the mystery would be a little less of a mystery perhaps. Howard please tell us more about this profound piece of information. Thank you. ..... Ray Revette/FL
Dear Howard, Indian Springs Cemetery is located off Lott Rd. (Co. 217) about three miles from Fed. Hwy 45. Lott Rd. pulls off Hwy. 45 in Eight Mile, AL 36613. Michael Lee Busby/AL
WE will do our bestest to include you and all others in this exchange. Howard
Bob, There was an obituary in a South Carolina newspaper that stated Benjamin was from Maryland and that he had lived in SC for 60 years and was 115 years old at the time of his death. Hard to believe, but I have no other information to refute that. I am wondering if there were really two Benjamins, father and son, and this was the son??? Indian Springs cemetry? Is that in upper Mobile County, Alabama? My grandmother, not a Busby, was born in a place called Indian Springs, AL. She was Choctaw Indian. Looking forward to reconnecting with you in two weeks. Regards, Howard

Sandra, I obtained my information about Reese Busby and Mary Winn from another Busby researcher. I do not know if Reese had a wife prior to Mary Winn or if Mary was my Allen's stepmother. I would appreciate any information you have on Reese or Reese's father. You may reach me direct on BUZGEN2 @aol.com. His father was Zachariah. John Z. is buried near me in Indian Springs Cemetery with Sarah. My direct line is STREET. I have a pix of Sarah and the address she and John Z. lived at in Mobile. I am also very confused also as to who is descended from who. The information I have is not verified except from John Z. I am going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks, but when I get back I will work on my files. The info I have is Zachariah was born 1768...are you saying Benjamin was 95 at that date, being born in 1673? I will hold your mail in file until I get back and hopefully we can solve some of this. Best, Bob
The info I received from Baygents on my line also had many errors in it. A grandson was cited as a son, etc. Sheppard Busby line. Dottie
In a message dated 8/16/99 1:48:41 AM Eastern Daylight Time, RESpeese@aol.com writes: << Hello, Sandra and Wayne. I am descended from Zachariah, brother of Reece. sons of Benjamin. I have a GEDCOM on Zachariah, I will be willing to share. Please contact me at RESpeese@aol.com. Best, Bob RE Speese >> ==================== Bob, If this is the Zachariah, b. 1768, who had sons Jeremiah, b. 1795, John Zachariah, b. 1797 and William H (?), b. 1805, then you and I are cousins, indeed. However, I have a copy of Benjamin Busby"s will, dated(probated) 23 October 1815. In it he mentions heirs Benjamin, Reece and Miles, but there is no mentionat all of Zachariah or Jeremiah as stated in the GEDCOM you cited. That has been one of the troubling aspects of my search for Zachiarah's parents, and the fact that someone else mentioned that his father was William BUSBY who purchased land in Craven Co.,SC. Incidentally, that same GEDCOM mentions that Gabe was a son of Zachariah's and that William was a son of John Zachariah's. I think those are incorrect, inasmuch as John Zachiarah was only 10 years old when william was born. But then again, it is said Benjamin lived to be 115 years old. If this is true and if Zachariah was his son, Benjamin was 95 years old at the time of Zachariah's birth. Then again, looking at all those BUSBY progeny, I should not be surprised about the virility and fecundity of them all. Could you give me the source of your information? I emailed The Baygent fellow who put up that GECOM on his webpage, asking for verification, but have not heard back yet. I hope we can get some kind of proof and/or clarification about those lineages. Regards, Howard R. BUSBY
