    1. BUSBY, Sarah; Born about 1618; Probably England
    2. Walter Harwood
    3. Good morning to the BUSBY list members, I have the subject SARAH BUSBY marrying JOHN GROUT in the early 1640's. SARAH had been previously married to THOMAS CAKEBREAD who died January 4, 1642/43. JOHN had been previously married to MARY (Surname Unknown), with whom he had two children, JOHN and MARY. I show that with SARAH, JOHN had nine children, but have no birth/death date/location. If anyone on the list has any information that they are willing to share on this family, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rick in Thailand

    1. Milton and David Busby of Freestone Co., Tx
    2. Tom Dunklin
    3. Can anyone furnish information on a Milton Busby and a David Busby found on the Freestone County, Texas web page's civil war roster? I found the following: FREESTONE COUNTY, TX ROSTER OF COMPANY. D, 10TH TEXAS INFANTRY - ORGANIZED BY WILLIAM C. WILSON AT FAIRFIELD, FREESTONE COUNTY, TX ON 10-26-1861 Non-Commissioned Officers: Milton Busby, 1st Sgt.; age 18, enlisted Oct. 23, 1861, killed at Jonesboro, Ga on Sept. 1-1864 PRIVATES: David Busby, pvt., age 18, enlisted Oct. 31, 1861; disability discharge on July 25, 1863. I found a Milton Busby earlier on a special census taken in Freestone Co, Tx in 1855. It was entitled: ENUMERATION OF FREE WHITE POPULATION BETWEEN SIX AND SIXTEEN YEARS IN FREESTONE COUNTY, TEXAS, A.D. 1855. Shown on this enumeration list in Dist. 3 was a Milton Busby, along with the following family members between 6 and 16 years of age: Elizabeth Busby, Melissa Busby and David Busby. Are these the same two Busbys shown above in the roster? If so, they were both listed as 18. Were they brothers? Is this the same Milton Busby who came to Tx after 1850 from Adair County, Ky, bringing with him my gg gmother, Matilda Busby Banks and her daughter, Mary Margaret Banks? Need information to prove that Matilda was the daughter of Matthew Busby and Saluda Tinsley Busby of Ky. Matilda Busby Banks m. Martin W. Banks in 1841 in Adair Co, Ky. Mary Margaret was born in 1842 in Adair Co. By 1850, Matilda and Mary Margaret are shown in the home of Milton Busby in Mercer Co, Ky. They are not found in Ky after that. Can anyone prove or disprove this information? Any and all help appreciated. Paula Dunklin

    1. Milton Busby Family in Tx in 1855
    2. Tom Dunklin
    3. I have a copy of the 1855 Freestone County, Tx census. It is laid out a little differently than the ones taken every 10 years as it just lists the name of the "Parents or Guardian", the names of children in the home, and the number of males and females in the home. Both parents are not listed, just one and in most cases it is the husband/father who is listed. Listed in District No. 3 is a Milton Busby with the following children: Elizabeth Busby, Melissa Busby, and David Busby. Can anyone identify this family? I am trying to find a Rebecca Busby who married William W. Groover sometime between 1852 and 1855. She supposedly was his 2nd wife. I believe that sometime after this marriage, William married a 3rd time to my unidentified gg gmother Banks, her 2nd marriage. I'm hoping a Busby researcher might have some kind of information about this marriage that will help me identify her and my gg gfather Banks. On this census, listed just below Milton Busby, is William W. Groover with the following children shown: John Groover, Margaret Banks, and Sarah Groover. I believe this Margaret Banks to be the daughter of my gg gmother Banks. Looks like the Groover family and the Busby family might have been neighbors. This leads me to believe that at some point, William really was married to Rebecca Busby and then to my gg gmother Banks. If anyone knows anything about these families, please contact me. It stopped being a cotton plantation in the early >1800's Four generations of Busby's lived here. His great grand daughter >retained the house when she married a Bynoe and the house has been in the >Bynoe family ever since, my wife is her great-great grand daughter. > Many English families came here before America, tried Cotton and Tobacco > farming and when they did not have much luck moved on to mainly Virginia > and North Carolina. There is quite a lot of famous American names that > were of Barbadian origin, two of the signers of the American Declaration > of Independence , Two Civil War Generals (Meade and Lee) The Austins and > Dallas families of Texas, Benjamin Bynoe was the ships doctor on the HMS > Beagle and Darwin's travelling companion. Lastly this was the only place > in the world that George Washington travelled to outside of North > America.
