    3. Help with this BUSBY in Wayne Co., MS in the 1880 census PLEASE!!! I have a Jerry Busby (Son of Jeremiah and Mary Cooley) age 24 married to Elizabeth age 23 in Washington Co., AL in 1880 with a 2 year old son Willie. This 'find' in Wayne County troubles me to find who this family is. In the 1880 census, Wayne Co., MS, ED 130, Sheet 39, Line 28-30 J Busby W, M, 25, [Head] b. in MS, father in AL, mother in GA E Busby W, F, 22, [Wife] b. in MS, father in AL, mother in GA S. J. Busby W, M, 2, [Son] b. in MS The Js could be something else but not a G. I voted for a J in both lines. Thanks for any help. .... Ray Dear Ray.....and the Busby List, I know there are a lot of Busbys in America now, descended from those in Britain. We seem to have some in Ohio, MA, MS, WI and NE, to name a few. To see if any of ours are related, I think what we all should do is try to share GedComs. This way we can see how far back each of us has been able to trace our Busby line. To any of you who would like to see my Busby GedCom, please write to me off the list at lonna@granbury.com, and I'll be happy to send you my Busby GedCom. Mine came from England in 1853 and settled in WI and NE, but there could have been family already over here from siblings in the line. My gr grandfather brought his brother Jonathan over here also, and some of his kids could have moved from WI to other areas. Let's try to get email addresses together of us all so we can share information with the goal of finding a common link. :)) Lonna

    3. >Dear Lonna, >The only Busbys in Nebraska, that I have tracked down are Abraham Marion >Busby, James N. Busby and Lavina Busby. Any info on any of them would be >appreciated! Thanks! Sorry I don't have these specific Busby's listed, however that doesn't mean they aren't connected in some way. Although my Busby's emigrated from England in 1853, there could have been relatives from the same branch who came to America earlier. After tracing farther back we could find a connection. Here is the info I have on my Busby branch: My BUSBY branch in the USA came from Thomas BUSBY b. 1828 in Stow, Huntingdonshire, England. His wife was Mary KNIGHT b. 1837 in Newton, Huntingdonshire. There were married in 1853 and emigrated to America that same year, along with Thomas's brother, Jonathan BUSBY. They ended up buying land and farming near Arcadia, Wisconsin, and their son, Thomas, my grandfather, bought land and farmed near Wakefield, Nebraska. I recently found out through searching IGI records online that Thomas's parents were Mark BUSBY and Sophia MERRY, married 1817 at Great Tew, Oxford, England. Through the IGI I also found out my BUSBY's were Baptist. Mark and Sophia's children's births were registered at Baptist, Spaldwick, Huntingdon, Eng. The children's names were: Eliza b 1821 Miriam b 1824 Mark b 1826 Thomas b 1828 Jonathan b 1831 William b 1836 John b 1837 In another IGI batch record I found their father, Mark BUSBY listed as a child of John BUSBY and Mary HUCKVALE, whose births were registered at Particular Baptist, Chipping Norton, Oxford England. These children were: William b. 1767 John b. 1769 Samuel b. 1771 Richard b. 1773 Mark b. 1776 Jonathan b. 1778 Mary b. 1782 Thomas b. 1784 If you think you are related to any of these BUSBY's please let me know. I have the batch record numbers and census information on some of them from 1841 and 1851 in England.
