Does anyone know anything about the Jas., Lot 94, 96, 95? I have only found one other James, so far. Would be interested in any one who has a James in their line in the early to mid 1800's. Gaila, Thanks for the info about Benajmin Busby. Looks like this is not the Benjamin that I am looking for. Glad to find out because I know I need to go back and try another alternative. That's 2 theories that I have had shot down this week, but that's part of the fun of genealogy. Thanks for reminding me about the Leonardo Andrea file. I had seen that before but I didn't have as much info as I do now. I will certainly go back over that again. Thanks for all your help Kay in GA
The only sons noted in this Benjamin's will are Reese, Benjamin Jr. and Miles. His will is dated 1815 in SC and his wife at the time of his death is Suzannah. The other interesting factor was one of the first items of the will, was to free his slave, Ned. This is the abstract done by Leonardo Andrea "60 BENJAMIN BUZBEE of Edgefield....a will sg. 4 Oct 1815 pr. 23 Oct 1815.....Susannah BUZBEE....Children BENJAMIN BUZBEE JR....the 100a of land where I live. REECE BUZBEE $400 in money, MILES BUZBEE....100 bushels of corn...see #42 "my wife Susannah is to have my old mare and al of my stock and meat cattle and 50 bushels of corn." Exs: Nathan Morris & Anail Sawyer. Wit: Jacob Dominick, Catherine Dominick & Elbert H Norris." By the census age, my Reese Busby (aka William Reese Busbee) was born about 1775- 1780. There may have been other children who had already gotten their portion and so are not named. He married Mary Winn born c1785. He may have been married previously. Hope this has helped. I would search through the Leonardo Andrea files on the Busby homepage, as several Stephens are mentioned. Kathy, Have you checked land deeds for Crawford, Bibb and Houston Counties? Often they will offer clues as to who is related to which Busby/Busbee in this area. Sandra and I found most of William Reese's children using clues offered by land deeds. He died without a will, but the several deeds we found gave us positive proof of many of his children. I suspect only one daughter was not recorded. The borders on these three counties, shifted and so I would search all three. They all have land deeds and all are filmed and available through LDS. My Green Wilder didn't leave a will, but the deed said he would sell his land to one daughter and her children, and she would keep him in a decent manner until his death. I was surprised to find this information on land deeds, but there it was. It would be worthwhile searching and also learning which land lot they lived on in relation to one another. Good luck, Gaila
Thanks Gaila, I will check these deeds out. kathy
Trying to find out any information on Washington Buzbee/Busbee/Busby that is listed on the 1840 Crawford county, GA census. At this time (1840) he lists 0 males under 5, 1 between 5-10, 2 between 10-15, 0 between 15-20, 0 between 20-30 and 1 between 30-40. Females 1 under 5, 0 between 5-10, 1 between, 10-15, 0 between 15-20, 1 between 20-30, 1 between 40-50. Washington Busby would have been born abt 1805 (assuming age 35). On the 1850 Crawford County, GA Census living with Leah (possible wife of Washington) b. abt 1801 (assuming age on Census is correct). The children living in her household at this time are Levina age 18 (b. abt 1832 in SC), John W. (guessing W. stands for Washington), age 16 (b. abt 1834 in GA), William J. age 14 (b. abt 1836 in GA) and Charlotte age 8, (b. abt 1842 in SC). Seaborn having been married by the 1850 Census, age 23 (b. abt 1827 in GA) living with wife Franky. It looks like Washington may have died in SC and Leah moved back to Crawford County, GA to be near son Seaborn. (possibly to be close to new grandchild Susan b. 1850) Right now this is just speculation. The ages fit with Seaborn. Any help on finding out info on this Washington Busby, would be greatly appreciated. kathy

Hello Listers, I'm looling for more information on (Rev.) Elijah Busbey, who married Mary E. Hite about 1765, place unknown. Was their daughter Elizabeth Hite Busbey, who married John Wheeler Meredith Rev. War soldier from Delaware on 16 April 1793 in Hampshire Co., VA, now WVA? One source said that Mary E. Hite was twice widowed, so it may be that she outlived Rev. Busbey, as well as a first husband. I am a descendant of John Meredith and Elizabeth Hite Busbey and am anxious to make the connection to Elijah Busbey and Mary Hite if possible. Thanks, Patsy
Please forward this on to the right place, my e-mail address is now zanegrey14@cs.com . Thanks in advance, Pamela Podelski
Hi Happy New Year, please send your answers to the list. I am trying to determine if Frederick and Elisha are related to my William Reese Busby, who also had land in Crawford Co, Ga. He later lived in Bibb Co. He may be a descendant of Benjamin Busby. Can anybody give the names of the children and Wives of the following Crawford County, GA Busby's? Elisha Busbee? Fredrick Busbee? William C. Busbee? Sampson Busbey? The first 3 lived close together in the 1830 Crawford County GA Census. My Seaborn Busbee b. abt 1831/2 had a son named Elisha b. 1856, a son named George Washington Busbee (nickname Doc) b. 1852, and a son named Seaborn b. 1858. These 3 were by 2nd wife Nancy (Dorsey) Reeves. First wife Frankey Dorsey had daughter named Susan Busbee b. 1850. Any help in identifing these families would be very helpful. 1840 Crawford County GA Census listed Washington Busbee, William H. Busbee 1850 Crawford County GA Census listes William J. Busbee, Charlotte Buzbee,, John W. Busbee, Leah Busbee, Levina Busbee, (these Busbee's all live in same household) Frances Busbee, Seaborn Busbee, Susan Busbee (living in same household) living not far from the William J. Busbee family (I am assuming that Leah Busbee may be the mother of Seaborn, William J. & John Busbee) The boys are close in age. Seaborn being 23, William J. being 14, and John being 16, Levina being 18, and Charlotte being 8. The ages are right. (Who was Leah married to). This would break down quite a few brick walls. Leah was born in SC. had Seaborn, William J. and John being born in Georgia. Looks like moved back to SC and had Charlotte and Levina there in SC. Her husband must have died in SC not long aftere Levina was born (after 1842 and before 1850 Census). kathy kendrick
Cindy, thanks for your reply. I am thinking about going back to the library at Florala and spend some more hours looking at their files. It is so strange to not find a connection. I have not found anything on Vernon under any of the different spellings and Alabama did not have records until 1906. I have not put adds in the paper but this will be my next plan. What info I find on any Busby, I will bring it home and post it. I keep praying there will be something, someone that will prove my grandfather existed. I have a picture and Mother's few memories of him but nothing of his family. She remembers the tatoos on his arms and one star tattoo on the back of one hand. He was in the army at young age and was discharged for fighting, this is what he told my mother. It is like he fell off the face of the earth. Nothing before or after 1924-1936. Mother was eight years old when he left the family seeking work. I wonder if he changed his name, birth?????? God Bless you and yours, Joyce
Kathy, I don't know about cousins. There are many and it is possible. I haven't branched out too far into the cousins yet. I'll save your e-mail and let you know if I find those names. Thanks. Glenda, No. My Uncle Andrew married Louisanna Dorsey. It was her sister who married Calvin Busbee and was my grandmother, Cynthia Dorsey. Their father was Henry Dorsey, and their mother was Miranda Sumlin. According to a page in my Uncle Andrew's Bible, the names of my grandfather, Thomas Calvin Busbee's brothers and sisters are Mary Elefair Busbee (born 23 Feb 1867); George W. Busbee (born 25 Apr. 1869); William Peary Busbee (born 31 Jan. 1871); "Elizbeth" Misouria Busbee (her birth date is sketchy, and she died at age 1 year); and Andrew Jackson Busbee (born 6 May 1880). I can appreciate your being so far away and wanting to go to Alabama to do your own research. My sister and I are talking about doing the same.
