    3. After the Descendant tree from Lou Miles was posted, didn't someone on this list say that there was no proof that Balaam Buzbee was the son of Samuel Busby? Since I am a descendant of John Busby and Mary Huckvale through their son, Mark, I would like to know for sure if Lou's information about the children of Samuel Busby is correct before I include it into my tree. Someone also mentioned that Samuel's son, John, was not connected to the family either, so what are the facts? Were Matthew and James the only sons of Samuel and what source records proved this? Thanks everyone, Lonna

    1. Busby Family, Late 1700's-mid 1800's, VA>KY>TX
    2. There is a John Busby listed in the 1810 VA Census for Hampshire Co. In his family there was one male age 45 or over, 3 females ages 16-25, and 1 female 45 or over. Do you think this is your John Busby with son Mathew already out of the house and off on his own in another county? I am looking for the family of my 3d-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Busbey, who was married in Hampshire Co., WVA to John Wheeler Meredith on 18 Apr 1793. I have indications that she is the daughter of Rev. Elijah Busbey and Mary E. Hite, but no proof. I was interested, therefore, in the fact that your John Busby was from around Hampshire Co., WVA, as you put it. The John in the 1810 census would have been born 1765 or earlier. He does not fit for a candidate for the father of my Elizabeth Busbey, as she was born 7 Jan 1766 (unless he was age 65 or so, which this census does not show), but he could possibly be a brother. Do you have any further clues on Hampshire Co. Busbys? And if you run across any in the future would you shoot them my way? I'd appreciate it very much. One more thing--John Meredith and Elizabeth Busbey migrated to Miami Co., OH, some time after their marriage and settled in the town of Cass. In the Miami Valley Genealogy Index from Miami Valley Website there is a Margaret Busby, b. 1739, d. 1832-fr. gravestone, cem. 1101, Casstown Cem. Very possibly an older relative of my Elizabeth's. On same database there is a listing for a Margaret Busby who married Samuel Gowery in Butler Co in 1815. Don't know if same Margaret who died in Miami Co. Thanks for any clues you might have. Patsy

    1. James Busby from Kentucky (Revised)
    2. cj
    3. This is the revised line. It was pointed out that I had the 1st & 2nd wives of David, in the wrong order. I apologize for any confusion. With as many children as James and Eliza had, you would think that someone would recognize some of the names. I will keep posting this until they do. :) James Busby was married to Eliza Harp or Heath, ( think it was Harp, but the court record shows both names) I now know that they were both born in Kentucky. David Taylor Busby born 8/3/1861 KY and died 12/23/1951 IN; outliving all three wives. 2. Try the military record center in St. Louis, Missouri, although they may have been part that were loss in a fire about 15 years ago. If that doesn't work try your local Mormon church, their family record centers are great and they have records from all over the world. You don't have to be a member to use their facilities. 1. James Busby from Kentucky
    2. cj
    3. Hello, Hopefully the people who have new PC's from Christmas are finding us! Here is my lineage as far back as I have gotten, which I might add, seems to end at James. James Busby was married to Eliza Harp or Heath, ( think it was Harp, but record shows both names) I do not know where either of them were born, nor do I have a clue if she was his only wife. It is obvious from my searches that women's mortality was high during that time. David Taylor Busby born 8/3/1861 KY and died 12/23/1951 IN; David's siblings: Hector -b. 1839 KY Valentine (male called Volley)- b. 1841 IN John F.- b.1847 IN Henry Charles-b. 1849 IN, d. 8/11/1911 IN. Julia b.(?)-KY. died young Gabriella (Busby) Rader, (female called Gabe)-b. 1859 KY David Taylor-b. 8/3/1861 KY, d. 12/23/1951 IN Annie (or Ann E.) (Busby) Moore-b. 1862 KY David Taylor was my ggrandpa, he was married three times and had two boys: 1st wife Ida (*Simmons)-d. 5/2/1887 in childbirth, 2nd wife Matilda (Pirtle) m.1/27/1884 {L-499}, Had one son named Charles E. and "Tillie" died in childbirth with 2nd child, 3rd wife Flora Jane (Keller) Busby-b. 11/12/1868, d. 3/1/1944, Had one son - William Alvin Busby-b. 10/4/1890 IN, d. 12/9/1959 IN; married Blanch Beatrice (Burnett) 11/26/1913 (My grandparents) I hope this makes some sense. It is not written in "proper" genealogy fashion. Carolyn

    1. Busby Family, Late 1700's-mid 1800's, VA>KY>TX
    2. Tom Dunklin
    3. I'm still stalled in my search for this family line and it's beginning to wear me down. Does anyone know anything about the following families? John Busby and wife, Margaret unkn from around Hampshire Co, W.VA/VA in mid to late 1700's. Son, Matthew Busby, birth date unknown, married Saluda Tinsley in 1803, Amherst Co, Va. and migrated in early 1800's to Adair Co, KY. Saluda Tinsley was the d/o David Tinsley and Nancy McDaniel of Amherst Co, VA . Children of Matthew & Saluda: Milton Busby, b. abt. 1804 in VA, d. abt. 1860 in Cotton Gin, Freestone Co, TX. David T. (for Tinsley?) Busby, b. abt. 1807, d. 1854 in Blue Ridge, Falls Co, TX. David may have married a Martha Sweeney, b. 1814, d. 1849, Bolling Green, Warren Co, Ky. Pauline Busby, b. abt. 1812, married Spottsford D. Tucker. Nancy T. (for Tinsley?) Busby, b. abt. 1815 in Ky, married William J. Drake in KY. Edward Busby, b. abt. 1817 in KY. Never married; supposedly "deaf/dumb" per census. Rebecca Matilda Busby, b. abt. 1818-1820 in Adair Co, KY. Married Martin W. Banks of Adair Co in 1841, Adair Co. Most of these children supposedly came to Freestone/Limestone/Falls Co, TX in the mid 1800's. Area town per county would be Teague, Mexia, and Marlin, TX Surely there is at least one person researching this family, somewhere. One problem seems to be that there may have been 2 or possibly 3 Matthew Busbys in Ky and they don't appear to be related to each other. All help greatly appreciated.
