Well said, Barbie. I just went through having to document what was written and passed on to me to join DAR for another ancestor not a Busby. Dottie

Lonna, Do you have any information on James? The time line fits. Does anyone know the names of any of his children? My James came from Kentucky. One of his boys born in Ky was David Taylor. Yep-he would be pretty virile at 78. My records for Benjamin Busby, born 1699, wife Susannah, show 11 children: George, Micajah, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Jr.(b. 1730), Thomas, Henry, John, another Benjamin (born 1738), Needham, Jeremiah, and Zachariah. Does any of this match your records? I also have a note/reference to an Edgefield, SC obit book that states that Benjamin Busby was 116 years old when he died.-- I have a Wheeler marriage list for Mobile county if that would help??? Thanks, Jabe Fincher -----Original Message----- From: HBusby@aol.com [mailto:HBusby@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, January 29, 2000 3:09 PM To: BUSBY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: surnames I'm searching Jabe, We are related, since I am from the same line of Zachariah BUSBY. I am descended from Zachariah's oldest son, Jeremiah, b. 1795 SC. d. 1855, MS. I find it hard to believe that Benjamin is Zachariah's father, because old Ben would have been 78 years old when Zach was born. I happen to have a copy of a Benjamin BUSBY's will and it does not mention Zachariah. Only names in the will were his wife, Susannah, sons: Benjamin, William Reese and Miles. This does not disprove that Zach was a son of Benjamin, as sometimes the older son has grown and left home, possibly with some inheritance already given or land granted. Or perhaps because of a dispute. Zachariah left SC very close to the time Benjamin died, as he is found in the MS census of 1820. Let's keep in touch and exchange information. Incidentally, I noted you were searching ancestors around the Wheelerville, AL area. My great great grandmother was Elizabeth Wheeler from that area. In my records I have Samuel BUSBY b. Nov. 27, 1771 in Over Norton, Oxford England. He is a child of John BUSBY & Mary HUCKVALE. Someone on this list once posted they think this is the Samuel who immigrated to Campbell Co. KY, married an unknown wife and had several children there: Matthew, Balaam (this one is disputed), John, & James. Today when I was looking in the IGI online I found a Samuel BUSBY listed from Film #1903733, b. abt. 1762 in Campbell Co. KY. It doesn't list parents. I tried to search by the Film number only but couldn't get anything. It just occurred to me that this Samuel, if he is real and born in Campbell Co. KY, would acutually be a better candidate as the father of the children above than the Samuel born in Oxford, because the one from Oxford would have had his first child, Matthew, at age 17. I know this is possible, but the other Samuel would have been 26. Any ideas on this? Has someone found proof that the children above actually belong to the Samuel from Oxford? Does anyone have a book or record to show it was this Samuel who emigrated to KY from England? It is obvious to me there are two Samuel's here.....we just need to find which one had these children, or if some of them belong to each Samuel. Just wondering, Lonna

Howard, I am researching the Busby's in Tennessee, you mentioned a William Reese and do you have any info on his children? My Great Grandfather was Paul Jones Busby, also known as PJ Busby...I do believe we are related as well. Any info would be great, and I will share what I have. Pam

If anyone is researching the family of Jonathan BUSBY b. March 11, 1831 in Stowe, Huntingdon, England, please contact me. Jonathan emigrated to America with his brother Thomas in 1853 and settled in Arcadia, Trempealeau, WI. I would like to know his wife's name and the names of their other children other than the one below. He had a son named Jonathan b. Nov. 27, 1858 in Arcadia, WI. In the ancestral files online I have found Jonathan married Lucetta HEATH. Their children were Alice, Sidney, Mildred Jane and Ina being born in Wisconsin, while Violet, Harry W. Sylvia, and Leslie J. were born in Montana. Jonathan and Lucetta died and were buried in Park, Montana. Please let me know if you are related to these Wisconsin and Montana BUSBY's. According to IGI online records there is another Jonathan BUSBY born in Arcadia, WI who married Harriet DAY, who had a child named Edwin Day BUSBY, who was the submitter of this information. The IGI also lists other children of John and Harriet as being born in Arcadia from 1864 to 1883, Willie, Annie Laurie, Hattie, George, & Clarence. I am trying to determine who this Jonathan BUSBY was because he couldn't have been the Jonathan born in 1858 because he would have to have had his first child at age 6 :) Since I am interested in all BUSBYs in Arcadia, WI, if any of you have knowledge of this family, please write to me. Thanks, Lonna
Is anyone else researching John BUSBY who married Mary HUCKVALE Aug. 18, 1766 in Chipping Norton, Oxford, England? What I'm writing here may or may not be true. I am looking for people who can verify or disprove any of this information, please. Their children were: William b June 9, 1767 John b. Sept. 17, 1769 Samuel b. Nov. 27, 1771 Richard b. Dec. 29, 1773 Mark b. Jul 31, 1776 Jonathan Oct. 31, 1778 Mary b. Mar. 8, 1782 Thomas Jul. 5, 1784 All were born in Chipping Norton and they were a Baptist family. The following may or may not be true of some of their children. I am trying to verify my information, so if any of you have additions or corrections, please contact me. 1. Mark BUSBY may be my ancestor if this is the correct Mark Busby who married Sophia MERRY 1817 in Great Tew, Oxford. Of their children, my gr gr grandfather Thomas & his brother Jonathan emigrated to America in 1853 and settled in Wisconsin. 2. Samuel BUSBY was said to have emigrated to America and settled in KY. No one seems to know who he married or when, but I have found children listed for him born from 1788 to 1799. Someone from this list submitted this information. If anyone knows the truth of this, please verify it. 3. William BUSBY married Rebecca HODGES in 1792 Bicester, Oxford according to an Ancestral file online LDS. If this is correct they had a son named John b. abt. 1800 Chipping Norton, Oxford who married Rose. John & Rose had children named John, Ann & Zipha. Those are the only 3 children of John and Mary I have seen information on. If anyone else is researching this family and has other information, please write to me. Thank you, Lonna
