    1. ROLL CALL: JOHN BUSBY & WIFE, MARGARET OF HAMPSHIRE CO, VA. 1750'S-1800'S
    2. Tom Dunklin
    3. John Busby m. Margaret unknown, lived in Hampshire Co, Va. (W VA) CHILDREN: William John, Jr. Matthew (born c.1785) m. Saluda Tinsley in Amherst Co, Va in 1803>Adair Co, KY Samuel Benjamin Hamilton Elizabeth At this point, I have little documentation on the above info except for the marriage of Matthew and Saluda, the naming of John and Margaret as grandparents of Matthew's children in an article taken from "Families of Falls County, Tx" and information from an interview article about Margaret Jane Busby, ( great grand daughter of John and grand daughter of Matthew, born 1847 in Bowling Green, KY), about her life in KY and TX. This interview was taken from the Busby Homepage now online. The "Families of Falls County" gives information about John Busby's will, dated Nov. 19, 1810 naming his wife, Margaret and his six sons and one daughter, Elizabeth. Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.

I can tell you who could tell you more about the Dickson's. Its Barbara Petticord. Barbara's Grandmother was a half sister to my husband's Dad. My husband's Grandmother was Barbara's Great Grandmother. Does any of this make any sense at all? Marilyn Busby Dickson

    3. Hopefully I can clarify some information about William Busby. It appears that there was two William Busby's in Mobile at the same time. One was the William that married Nancy Cooper. He was from Georgia. The other was William Busby that married (1) Lou Etta Ennis and (2) Phoebe Grimes. The one that married Lou Ennis was my GGgrandfather. He had several daughters and one son by his first marriage and four children by his second marriage. His daughter, Serena, married Elijah C. Ward in Mobile in 1860. I got Serena's mothers name, Lou Ennis from Serena's death certificate. What we are faced with is one William from SC and one William from Georgia in Mobile at the same time. This causes confusion because both sides think that the William H. Busby who died in 1870 is their ancestor. It is not clear to me which one died in 1870. I thought it was mine since he is shown as being from SC. Others think he is theirs because his wife, Nancy, died in Mobile later as I have been told. Many people think that the SC William is related to the Wayne County, MS Busbys. I think that also but I don't think the relationship is Father/Son. Circa 1810 that was a William Busby in Washington Parish, LA. He died before the 1820 census and a widow Busby and a William Busby is in the 1820 Washington Parish, LA census. William is also there in 1830. He then shows up during the early 1830s in Clarke County, MS, which, of course, is next to Wayne County, MS where many Busbys are located. Lewis Cook and several of his son in laws, including William Herrin and Abram Ennis also are there from Lawrence Co. and Marion Co. MS. I believe that Lou Ennis was related to Abram Ennis and William followed the others to Clarke County, MS. Information on Lou Ennis is almost nonexistant but I believe that she died circa 1848-1849 and William and his family moved to Mobile. He appears there in the 1850 census and he married Phoebe Grimes in 1851. William appears in the 1860 Mobile County Census in 2 or 3 different places. Most of Williams children by his first marriage married in Mobile and several of them are buried in Indian Springs cemetery. I don't know is William is buried there or not. Some people say he is but there is, to my knowledge, no proof of that. On a trip to Mobile I talked to one of the people that was responsible for the cemetery and they told me no records exist on who is buried there other than the ones with headstones. I would certainly like to know whether or not William was indeed in LA as a young man and also if he is the William H. Busby who died in 1870. BTW, I found the obit for the one who died in 1870 in a Mobile Newspaper and he died of anemia. Bob Doherty
