May I share with you a similar problem. I have never been able to resolve this. A headstone in a presbyterian church grave yard in the north of Ireland reads accordingly. "Erected by George Busby in memory of his mother Susanna Busby who departed this life 19 Jan 1863, aged 72. Despite years of research I have never been able to find anything on George. He has disappeared of the face of the earth." This is what we call a brick wall in genealogy. Thankfully this is my only one. My grandfather was James Busby born 1889 Hockley Warks, England. Died 05/12/1925. He was married 29/01/1916 at St Michael's Oldbury, England (to Agnes Smart). I have his birth, marriage and death certificates. But trying to track him back, all I can find is an entry in the 1901 census, which shows him living at Tiverton Road, Smethwick. His parents were shown (in 1901) as William (59) and Harriet (41). His siblings were Phillis (10), Rose (7), Hilda (5), and Lucy (1). I can't track William Busby anywhere. I know towards the end of his life he lived in or near Pool Road, Smethwick. And he looked after the pool in the nearby park. But nothing apart from this 1901 entry. William's birthplace is shown as "Aboard ship (Irish Sea)" in the 1901 census entry. Anyone help a beginner, struggling to get going? One more Benjamin that can not be missed: Benjamin Berry Busby. He is often going by just Berry. There were also inquiries asking about a Berry Busby who picked cotton in the bootheal where my Busby's are from and born including myself. He has a huge family and I think he even had nephews and nieces living with him at some point. Never did find Berry's father: I am thinking his father did not go by Busby but some other spelling. Benjamin "Berry" Busby born: 1848TN 1st wife unknown 2nd wife Mary M. (Mahala) Unknown married after his first three were born His childrens birth are from Ky to TN to AR-Clay Co., Arkansas. It looks like he moved around for about 6 years after marrying a second time and then settling down in Clay County. Have been trying to attach my Ambers Busby family to this family because we all lived in this area. You're absolutely right, but I thought I'd try this way first. Right now time is so tight; have a medical problem with a family member, etc. But I'll have to make time as soon as I can and get myself down to the genealogy library here and also to an LDS library nearby.
