    1. Re: [BUSBY] Floyd Henry Busby
    2. are you sure he wasn't born the 5 Oct 1891. Because this is what his WW1 draft registration states. It also states that he was born in Claborn, Alabama. If this is him his father was James E. Busby. I have that he died in Walker, Georga on 23 Dec 1972. I'd have to look into this some more to find out who the mom was because James is a widow in 1910 federal census. in the 1920 census Floyd is living with his sisters. in 1930 he is listed with his wife Ida and children your Robert Busby?is 1. Author: excitingmike Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1211.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi. I am looking for William Busby, who was recorded in 1891, 1901 UK census returns as having been borm onboard ship in the Irish Sea in c 1841. I have almost given up on finding him in England before 1888 (marriage). But I wonder if he might have been one of your Busby line from 1841-1880s. His children were called James, Phillis, Rose, Hilda, Lucy. Given the first born's name, it is possible his father was James perhaps. And maybe he came to England to work on the canals (my family had links with them in the Langley area). Somewhat clutching at straws, ... Author: excitingmike Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/736.814.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Sorry to bother you, but I have a great grandfather William Busby. I can only find him in England in 1891 and 1892 censuses, where his birth is shown as "aboard ship, Irish Sea". But can't find him in England in 1842 to 1880s. He had a son James (my grandfather) in 1889 Hockley Birmingham, with a Caroline. He was working as an excavator in 1891. SO I wondered if he might have been borm on ship on the way to Ireland in 1842. Then grew up in Ireland, and came to the Birminggham/Smethwick area in the 1880s, to work as a 'navigator'. I don't have much else to go on. But I wondered if you had an 1842 William Busby that you 'lost' during the 1880s. Sorry to take up your time if this does not relate to your researches. 2. Oh your lucky I wish I only had one brick wall. Mine is here in the US and he is Phillip Busby married to Margaret (?) Busby. they had six known children William Riley Busby; Greenberry Haywood Busby; Francis Marion Busby; Nancy Jane (Busby) Wyatt; Margaret Joanna (Busby); Olmstead, Taylor; and Mary Busby. I can locate all the children except Nancy Jane after 1853. and no one has a clue as to Phillip's parents or Margaret maiden name. So theres just some of my brick walls. May I share with you a similar problem. I have never been able to resolve this. A headstone in a presbyterian church grave yard in the north of Ireland reads accordingly. "Erected by George Busby in memory of his mother Susanna Busby who departed this life 19 Jan 1863, aged 72. Despite years of research I have never been able to find anything on George. He has disappeared of the face of the earth." This is what we call a brick wall in genealogy. Thankfully this is my only one.
