Author: kiwileprechaun Surnames: BUSBY, MARR Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1991/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello I am looking for information on John Busby, born abt 1829 in Paisley, Renfrewshire. In 1871 he is living in Govan, Lanarkshire with his wife Mary. I suspect that John is Mary's second husband and that her first husband had the surname Marr. There is a daughter, Mary, but I believe she is the daughter of Mary's first husband, and that John Busby is the step father. John was a Paker Printer. At this point, I have no further information but would be very grateful if anyone could shed a little light on this person. 1. [BUSBY] Update to Richard Buzbee's genealogy series: Some of the Buzbees and their Best Friends
    2. Jim Buzbee
    3. My Father, Richard Buzbee, has published updates to his Buzbee/Busby genealogy series. He writes: ------ I have organized somewhat the information gathered or sent to me in the past 2 years for the family history volumes. I haven't gone back into the online books to expand them, but have rewritten some pages (into 3 or 5-page additions), and put the other information into single pages or paragraphs for later incorporation. Note that New Page 262 is R-Rated because of graphic description in the South Carolina Gazette, 1760, of the Cherokee war in which 5 Busbys were involved directly. And there's more on the William Busby saga, with extracts from my research via microfilm of South Carolina newspapers 1775-1782. (Earlier, I had sent over similar piece about extracts from S. C. newspaper of 1760). Nothing specific about the hanging of William by the patriots, ca. 1780, but I found the newspaper's changing editorial view fascinating, comparing Charleston prior to the British capture, and after the British capture.....especially the open letters posted by William's fellow Royalists in the midst of the Revolution. ------ The full series can be found here: http://batbox.org/books With the updates here: http://batbox.org/books/Book1Additions Jim Buzbee

I believe that my line descends from Matthew but I have nothing about him before he married in 1803. Sure wish I knew exactly where my Matthew was born and could prove the relationship between him and John, but so far, I can't. I only know that Matthew left Amherst Co Va with his wife and family ca 1815 and settled in Adair Co, KY on the Green River. There he lived out his life and died ca 1846. His children then scattered to Carroll Co MO and into Texas. Sorry that I couldn't help more. Paula Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I can go back on the Lane side quite a ways. I wonder if Matthew had a brother that my side came from. Do you have Matthew's brothers names? I think he moved from Shelby County TN about 1842 with at least one son, Merida (Meredith)and Merida's wife, Minerva Hunt who were married in Shelby County in the 1820's. One of their sons was Jeremiah Meredith Busby who was born in Shelby County in 1833 and who, after he had served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, married Elizabeth (Betsy) Hastings. Their oldest child was my grandmother Ella Busby. I am looking for the name of James Busby's wife and his parents.
