You mentioned in your post about your Busby line the name Ambers. My great Grandfather's name was Louis Ambers Busby and his father was John Ambers Busby. A lot of things in your post seem familiar to me, especially the part about Black Dutch heritage. John Ambers Busby's father was a John Busby and for me he is my brick wall. My Busby lineage ends in Arkansas, but comes also from Missouri and Kentucky before that. I also believe that some of my Busby's may have also come from Texas, but I can't make a connection. I have my GGF's death cert. and he died in St Louis, MO in May 1936 so there is no Social Security record. He was born in June 1863 supposedly in Kentucky according to his death cert. His wife's name was Jannie Hamilton from Florida. JAB's parents are listed on his death cert., but his mother's first name is illegible and her maiden name is unknown. The Ambers name is intriguing, unique and I have found it no where else except your post. If you think we have a connection, please write back to me at my private email address: reconair@comcast.net. We must talk. Thanks, Louis Scott Busby Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Most of the children of James Levi Pink Willis were born in Arkansas. I don't have a location for the area in Arkansas though. This line was also from Louisville, Clay Co., Illinois and frequently went back and forth there. They finally did settle in Dunklin Co., Missouri though. Most of the boys go by a simple name like Bill, Jim, Emmett so I do not have their full names. I will keep your Charles on my list "to find". Author: Kimberly_Barranti30 Surnames: Busby, Campbell, Dearing, Willis, Farley Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1059.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I really do not know why Clinton called himself Black Dutch. We only know he was dark with gray eyes. His father is Ambers Busby. We do have theories on this Black Dutch descent. One was that Clint was German or had German in his line and after the Hitler war he refused to be called German. The other is that he is Black Foot Indian and some sort of white nationality mix. Indian's still had trouble in the South including getting land, so being dark was a problem. He called himself Black Dutch. Many of the Indian's hid behind this nationality claim so that they would be considered white. We do know he and his wife Lucy had pretty much their own language and my mother and sisters stayed there pretty much most of the time while their father worked. No one could understand what they were saying because they picked up this very strong accent. We still use some of the words today: Guthy or Guthie for cat. If this word is a clue or a link to any one nationality it would b! e helpful. My mother can't seem to remember any more off hand until it just comes natural to use. I strongly feel they had some sort of Indian background. They were hunters and traders and preferred to live in the woods-not very social. From this line we were all told we have from this Busby line: Black Foot Indian, Mohawk or Choctow (which is a form of small Indians connected to Cherokee) and some sort of hillbilly-possibly German or Scottish. My mother spoke of some of the Scottish foods her grandma Lucy would make. Lucy was a Campbell which we still don't know a whole lot about this line either. My mom just said they were definately different. We don't know Ambers full name, but he is my brick wall and I would do anything to find out more about him. Thank you for your inquiry and it really sheds light on more possibilites to Clinton's unusual nationality claim. In fact it is the only thing anyone knows about him. 1. [BUSBY] Gewndolyn BUSBY b.1903 Montreal, PQ, Canada
    2. Brian Jones
    3. Hi List I am currently researching the family of my step-children's grandmother, Gwen Busby b. 1903 Montreal, PQ., Canada. She was the seventh child of Thomas Henry Busby b.1867 Thrupp, Oxon., England and Catherine Emma Caulfield. She was brought up in Montreal and married Herbert Lidstone from the Newfoundland Lidstones. It's interesting to note that her father Thomas was also the seventh child of Thomas Busby b.1826 Adderbury, Oxon., England and Margaret Evans. Thomas' b.1826 parents were Thomas Busby b1799 Adderbury, Oxon and Hannah Robinson. I have some fairly good research dealing with Thomas Busby b.1826 and his siblings, Thomas Henry Busby b.1867 and his siblings and Gwendolyn Busby b.1903 and her siblings. Now my question is can anyone help with going back further with this branch of the Busby family. I have exhausted all the data I could find on ancestry.ca, ancestry.co.uk and ancestry.com. I am loathe to use information on the IGI because I cannot substantiate it. Thanking you in anticipation and I look forward to any replies to this email. Regards, Brian

    1. [BUSBY] ROBERT BUSBY, BORN ca 1759 VA-LIVING IN ADAIR CO KY in 1833
    2. TOM F DUNKLIN
    3. Still looking for someone who can connect with the Robert Busby that was a soldier in the Rev War for the VA line. Born ca 1759. Need to learn identity of his parents, wife, and any children. From Military Records for Robert or Robart Busby:       "S30904, Cont & VA Line, appl 7 Jan 1833 Adair Cty KY, sol had enl in Goochland or Hanover Cty VA, sol b in Jul 1759 in Hanover Cty VA; in 1839 sol was a res of Morgan Cty IL; a bro of sol, James Busby, mentioned."  Trying to connect Robert Busby to Mathew Busby who was also living in Adair Co KY in 1833. Matthew could prove to be the son or nephew of  Robert Busby who lived in Adair Co and was on the 1820 Adair Co census.  A Robert Busby was in Adair County April 2, 1834  drawing an $80 pension for his service to VA during the Rev. War. He was 75. According to the Bureau of Pensions Records, his birth date was July 1759 and he was born in Hanover Co Va. The record states that in 1839 he was in Morgan Co Illinois & there is mention of a brother named James. He's not found in Morgan Co in 1839 but is found in Macoupin Co IL in the home of a Lewis Harmon.  Robert is believed to have had a daughter, Mary W. P. Busby who married a Lewis Harmon in Adair Co 6-21-1826, according to Adair Co KY marriage records. Surely, someone is researching this Busby line. HELP! Paula

I am wondering where information about the McRay maiden name came from? In the 1850 census for Madison County, Alabama, there is a Richard Busby married to Elizabeth, with a daughter M.E. under a year old. There is also a Margaret either 7 or 9. And a Madison County marriage index, now online, has a Richard Busby marrying a Elizabeth McRay. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: JL_Erickson Surnames: Abbott, Lafon Classification: marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.busby/1096.1.1.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have just been doing this a short time, however, do believe that these are the parents of my great-grandfather, Isaac Newton Abbott, b. about 1862. Seems that Dekalb fought in Texas during the Civil War about 1864 (CONFEDS). Not quite sure if he survived or not....can find this with a search on this site under military. So, either he died or they were divorced, but have seen other trees with death listed as 1871. Anyway, thought that I found a 1870 census with Melvina listed as Melvina Baker, Isaac N. Abbott, and Mary Baker...sure I saw it but forgot to save to Shoebox. Also, another listing under William Baker with William and Melvina as married with several children, so must of had some stepchildren involved. Isaac was just listed under the Baker name. Mary must have been their child and was listed as two, I believe. In the 1880 census, just Melvina Baker, Isaac N. Abbott and Mary Baker and no husband. Read another tree that showed both had died in 1881, but did! n't say much beyond that. In 1871/72, Isaac Newton Abbott married Julia Ellen Lafon in Bosque, Texas. They later moved to Redwater, Texas. Can find marriage in Bosque records. See 1880 census with a few children mentioned (?). 1900 census has several more. Two died before 1900 census. A daughter Florence died about 1902. Three children, Ina, Virgil and, I believe, Curtis were born between 1900 and 1905. Husband Isaac Newton Abbott passed in 1905. Rough times, it seems. Hope that this began with Dekalb and Melvina...seems to have. However, just know about Isaac and Julia Abbott and their decendents personally. 2. Wanda Busby
    3. Richard L Busby b 11 Nov 1907, died 4 Sep 1980 is buried in Pleasant Grove Ch CM, Wayne Co, MS, per Cemeteries of Wayne Co, MS, Book B, p 193. His wife, Minnie Mae (Madie) Sasser has a marker with DOB of 16 May 1913 but no death date. The markers are listed close to Minnie's parents' graves. Also, there is a marker for Ottis Richard Busby b 21 Sept 1929, d 11 Jun 1930. I believe this is the same person that I had originally listed as Richard Otis Busby, as the DOB and DOD correspond. Therefore, I have revised my information on this family. Also, I had originally listed Richard and Minnie Busby being buried in the Myrick CM, Jones Co, MS. I have verified today that this information is incorrect and that Richard Lester Busby is buried in Pleasant Grove Baptist Ch, CM, Wayne Co, MS. Thank you, Wanda Lee Busby Jones Co, MS

Although I cannot trace my BUSBY/COX ancestors to the States, I wonder if we are connected through the COX line? I list below some of my family roots: Fanny COX born 25 Dec 1796 in Minster Lovell, Oxford, England. Married James BUSBY, born 22 Jan. 1787 in Minster Lovel, Oxford. They had 10 children tht I have been able to find, the second child Mary BUSBY born 1822 is my ancestor. If you think that we may be connected I can pass along more details.
