I am away for a couple of months so will do a post when I get back. Have my side of the line dating back to the 1700's. Maybe they could be related but I know the Fanny Busby that I knew died about 10 years ago, could be a little more. I have not got that at the moment, but will have shortly - but the one you are looking for could have been a grandmother perhaps? She came to Australia in 1889 aged 20 on the ship Merkara. She married George Charles Millward on 22/5/1894. She died 25/3/1945 in Charters Towers. George died 3/6/1907. They had 5 children. Her sister was called Fannie and there was another sister Bridget. Fannie married a man called Mr. Wyatt. I don't know if that was a second marriage or not. Fannie had a son called Doug Wyatt(Douglas perhaps it was) and he married a woman called Doreen. If this is perhaps a link to your side, then I am excited! 1. [BUSBY] George Busby in Marion, Ohio
    2. Paula, I am a descendent of a Busby in Morrow County, OH. I have read quite a bit about the George Busby in Marion, Ohio. (Which is where I lived from the seventh grade on--until I left for the US Air Force. But my family and my wife's families remain there.) I do not have the info at hand--and little time right now to sort it out. However, if I recall, George was into politics. If you research him on Ancestry.com---in the "Public Family Trees" I think you will find more information on him. In fact, I just peeked in the Marion Co History (Jacoby). George H Busby (Dem) was in the US Congress for at least the 1851-53 session.. The history's index has about 18 pages listed, where his name appears. This History may well be online somewhere. Several histories from this area were on Al Pott's 'HeritagePursuit.com' web site. Which was free--but last I checked, he is asking for subscriptions. I'll send more when I get a chance. But, pursue the family trees and the Marion OH county histories. Bob Robert Hart Keggan, PE Lt Col USAF Retired Beavercreek, Ohio PS: The histories may be online at BYU library, amazon, google, or another digitized book source. Try googling for: History of Marion County, Ohio by Jacoby. If you can't find it, look for the same title with 1883. They both had a lot of the same information.

    1. [BUSBY] JOHN BUSBEY-MARGARET PATTERSON BUSBEY OF HAMPSHIRE CO VA IN MID 1700'S-1830'S
    2. TOM F DUNKLIN
    3. Below is information someone sent to me hoping to help me in my search for my GGG grandfather, Matthew Busby/Busbey. Family legend says that Matthew was the son of John Busbey and Margaret Patterson Busbey of Hampshire Co VA. However, I've never been able to prove/document this. The information below shows John & Margaret having a son named Matthew, but according to Mr. Harry E. Rice, this Matthew had a son named George and this Matthew died in VA. There are no dates/time periods provided. My Matthew did not have a son named George and my Matthew definitely died in KY before November of 1843. KY court records bear this out. I've tried to find information about the George Busby mentioned in Mr. Rice's data but have not been able to find anything on him. Would like to research this George to see if I can either prove Mr. Rice was correct or disprove Mr. Rice's data regarding this Matthew. I've tried to find out where or how I could obtain a copy of the CD-ROM below but apparently it is no longer available, so I can't look at his data. If anyone knows where I could find a copy, I would appreciate that info. But mostly, I'm wondering if there is any Busby researcher who knows about this George Busby, who according to Mr. Rice, located in Marion, Ohio. Without dates, I'm not having any luck. Mr. Rice's data was from the following:      "BUSBY FAMILY GENEALOGY" by Harry E. Rice, Washington, DC. and appearing on CD-ROM (produced by United Ancestries) Copied February 18, 1963. 39692 - Harry E. Rice, Washington, D.C:        "The Busby family has been one of considerable prominence in various periods of history. One of the early Busbeys was a member of the English parliament and another is buried in sacred Westminster Abbey. Warrant 4156 Council Chamber May 9, 1786, P. Henry T. Merrweather, the Representative of John Busby, is entitled to the Proportation of land allowed to a private of the Continental line for three years service. A warrant for 100 acres of land issued to James Busby, heir-in-law of John Busby, the 9th day May 1786. This would indicate that John Busby had three years service in the Virginia line and that James Busby  received the warrant as John Busby probably was unable to appear in person. William Busby aged over 80 living at Portsmouth, Ohio, on September 23, 1941, wrote us the following; "I am the son of Eldridge Busby and Emily Downey. Father had brothers Hiram, Henry and Raleigh Jr. The four of them were sons of Raleigh Sr. who had a brother James, a soldier in the Revolution. My three uncles Hiram, Henry and Raleigh Jr. all moved to Indiana, but have no information regarding any of their descendants". Records show Hiram Busby married Nancy Vice in 1889. The children of John and Margaret were; Elizabeth, Matthew, Samuel, John, Benjamin, William and Hamilton.              A.  Elizabeth married John Wheeler Meridith                  1. Samuel C. Meredith b. November 27, 1807                     a. Capt. William M. Meredith of Chicago and Washington,                        D. C. for many years with the Bureau of Engraving.              B. Matthew Busbey died in Virginia.                  1. George located in Marion, Ohio.              C. Samuel moved to Kentucky.              D. John moved to Kentucky and was living at Sheridon Mills                 near Flemingsburg in 1832.              E. Benjamin."  Copied February 18, 1963. 39692 - Harry E. Rice, Washington, D.C. If anyone happens to have a copy of the above CD-ROM, I would love to hear from you. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Paula
