He moved his family to Bienville Parish, LA a few years before his death. According to family history, he committed suicide. He was a Revoluntionary War soldier. At some point, he was supposedly also in TN before finally going on to KY. In his last days, he was thought to be in both Morgan and Macoupin Co, IL living with a Lewis Harmon. He was said to have a brother named James. Trying to connect him to my ggg gfather, Matthew Busby, born ca 1780, unknown co of VA. Matthew married Saluda Tinsley in Amherst Co VA in 1804 and was in Adair Co KY by 1816. I do not know the names of Matthew's parents or siblings but Robert could be an uncle or even his father. I believe some of Matthew's brothers/sisters may have gone to TN, KY, MO and some may have gone to or been connected to the Busby line from the Carolinas. I know some of the Southeast Busbys were in NC/SC, AL & GA and some went on into central TX....Limestone, Freestone, Falls and Robertson counties of Tx. About 1850 some of my KY & MO Busbys left their homes and came to the same central TX counties. I'm betting that these two lines are connected somewhere on the Busby family tree. Hope someone can help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Betty. Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to check if you had any VA or KY Busbys since I can't find my Busbys anywhere in Va except for Matthew's marriage to Saluda Tinsley in 1803 Amherst Co VA. I have no idea who his parents or siblings were and I've been looking for about 10 years. So...I always have to ask when I think I might possibly learn something. I'm familiar with your line and I haven't yet ruled the SC bunch out but just can't find a connection. I live in TX and some of your Busby line came to central Tx and settled in and around Freestone, Limestone, Falls, and Robertson Counties. Strangely enough, some of my VA/KY Busbys also came to Tx around 1850 and settled in the same areas. I've often wondered if maybe they were related. Guess I'll just have to keep on looking....maybe one day I'll find them. Sorry but I do not have Busby information in my files for those who migrated to KY and MO. My line migrated from South Carolina to north Louisiana. I do have information of some of the families in early Virginia, and both of the Carolinas. I now live in Missouri but I am a native of Louisiana. My maternal grandmother was Beulah Inez Busby (born in Fairfield Co., SC) who married William Henry Thrasher in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. I am ill at the moment but would be glad to check my Missouri records to see if I have anything that would help you.
