Folks, I am pleased to announce GAILA MERRINGTON as the new Busby-Busbee List Owner/Administrator. Gaila is a long-time contributor, an extraordinary researcher, and well qualified for the position. Let's all wish her well in this endeavor. Tiffany will continue as Webmaster/Co-Administrator, and I will assist Tiffany in preparing new data for the Homepages. Farrell Tyler Busbee II
Susan I hope he will participate. I often wonder if Miles Tillman is connected to Miles the son of Benjamin and my William Reese. I also hope we can find descendants of William Busby who was in SC at the same place and time as Benjamin to see if they are brothers. It would be so exciting to get this information. Google seems to have plenty on Buzz Rabin and his music. Try that. Wayne, I'm actually the one who found this Phillip Busby of Houston Co., deceased 1857, and I can't find out which family he belonged to and wondered if he might possibly be Allen's unidentified son b. 1825. What do you think? Barbara Grizzle
Barbara and all, Billie Jones sent me a great link to the SC archives: http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/ By going in and searching their databases, I found the three references to Ned's possible manumission and I think I will send away for the eight pages to see what they say. It looks as if this process takes awhile. I am curious to know where Ned ended up? Possibly with Susanah and I wonder if she lived with Miles. All of the names mentioned were in the will and estate sales. I have reviewed my list and I don't see anyone else who descended from a James Busby b. 1798. However one or two didn't give me a lineage. Is this the James Busby who is the great grand father to Gov. Busby? If so, check with Rick Busby. He is the Governor's nephew and has stated he wants to wait awhile. My great grand fathe is Allen and is the brother of Gov. Busbee's ggrandfather James. Would appreciate any help you can give us as we only have eight participants signed up. Wayne

He's probably not a child of Jeremiah since all the children of Jeremiah are listed, then Elisabeth Shirley, age 10, then Tampson. (The ages are out of order and Elisabeth probably doesn't belong to Jeremiah, so Tampson probably doesn't either. Also Tampson probably wasn't in the household in 1840.) Sampson Busby is 25 in 1860 and in Wayne Co. So is this Sampson the Tampson from 1850? (I don't have access to the film of the original 1850 census, so I can't check the spelling of the original.)
Regarding the project for DNA, we have six participants who have sent in DNA to the lab. We are seeking more male Busbys. Gaila Merrington has contributed $50 for anyone who needs a little assistance in paying for the test ($99). Don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to use this money. And I encourage others who can afford it to follow her example. Wayne Busbice, Project Administrator
I received notification today that my kit was received by Family Tree DNA on 7/16/03. They indicate 4 weeks for test results. Wayne, do we have any others in my line (descendents of James Busby, b. 1798 in Newberry Co.) that have come forward. If not, please let me know so that I can assist. John M. (Jack) Busby
