    3. I am also from SC.......the northern part near Charlotte, NC. I have a ggrandfather Miles Busby, but I don't think he is the one being discussed. As a matter of fact, I can't connect him to anyone except his immediate children, his wife Sara Jane Johnston and his brother John. Has anyone been able to sort out all the different Miles Busbys from SC? Many dates are close. Any clues, anyone? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, November 29, 2003 5:03 PM Subject: Re: [Busbee Busby] Miles Busbee, SC > My wife is from Summerville SC just 20 minutes south of Orangeburg..we are > there quite alot > > Vohn > > > ==== BUSBY Mailing List ==== > To Unsubscribe: > Send an email to [email protected] with ONLY the word unsubscribe in the subject and/or body of the email. > Listowner: Gaila Merrington [email protected] >

    3. I am looking for information on Jake Busby born in Wayne Co, MS. He married Edna Earl Kelley, who was the daughter of Laras Kelley and Lottie Patricik. Jake and Edna had one son, Edward Busby. Jake divorced Edna and moved to Louisiana. I have been unable to locate information on Jake, because I do not have any dates of birth, etc, and I am not sure if Jake is his name or nickname. I do know that he was killed in an explosion in Louisiana in 1951. Edna later married Mitchel Rahaim of Jones Co, MS, and Mitchel adopted Edward and changed his name to Edward Rahaim. Edna was born in 1918 and I believe Ed (Edward) was born around 1933. Any assistance of locating information on Jake Busby would be appreciated. 1. Re: [Busbee Busby] Who is this Wm J Busby? 1880 Census
    2. Oren Busby was an older son of Sheppard Busby and Mary Polly McIlwain. He did serve in the Civil War and in 1918 wrote an article for the Waynesboro newpaper relating his trials and battles in that war. He was known in the Waynesboro/Buccatuna, MS area as Uncle "Iron". A fine looking tgentlemen who wore a beard and lots of time a white linen suit. He married Salina Alice McIlwain who was his neice. I descend from Oren's youngest brother, Charles Edward Busby who was married to Sara Inez Mills. I do show a William J. Busby married to Mary J Simpson and they had a son Sheppard (grandson of my gr grandfather Sheppard Busby and Mary Polly McIlwain) in the line. This Busby line of my family had 2 children both of which married Mauldin family members. They were Sheppard and Isadora. William J. Busby was born 1846 and married Mary J. Simpson in 1869. I have complete info from Sheppard (the gr grandfather b. 1810) forward but am still trying to find the name of his mother and father. That Sheppard had one sister, Susannah Busby Agnew, wife of James A. Agnew who was a Revolutionary War soldier and at least one brother, William. My great grandfather, Sheppard, was prominent in Lauderdale Co., MS in his prime. He, his wives, and many of his children and grandchildren are buried in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Buccatuna, MS and many descendants still live in that area and in Washington Co., AL. Dottie Busby Wainwright

I have found 3 families of Busby in Desoto Co MS. Having a William Jasper next door in Panola makes me think that James William and he may have been related as James's wife is suppose to be from either GA or AL. There has been question to whether his first son was born in GA or AL. I am still looking for proof that James William is related to the Wayne Co Busby considering Albert is also a family name as well as George. Just thought I would run this past ya. 1. Re: [Busbee Busby] Who is this Wm J Busby? 1880 Census
    2. Hi Folks: I have asked this question on one other list serve, but received no answer. The talk about Wm. Jasper Busby prompted me to ask here. Here is what I know: Mary Seymour Busby was my grandmother, I knew her well. She was born in Buckatunna but lived most of her life in Montgomery, Al. Her father was Joseph M. (Manley/ Manly I think) Busby born in 1875; her mother was Annie Seymour Entrekin (her father was Wm. Jasper Entrekin b. 1847 in Al. coincidence I,m sure but prompted me to ask again abt. this line). I do not know who Joseph's father was. Does anyone have any idea? My grandmother talked of an uncle (great uncle perhaps?) named Orren (spelling?) who was a CSA veteran and died at an advanced age. I don't remember her saying who her grandfather was. There was an Orren, son of Steve Sheppard Busby, who served in the Mississippi Company of the 36th Ala. Inf. along with brothers and cousins (McIlwains). This (Orren) is not a common name. The census does not show a Joseph in the household of John H. or other Sheppard Busby sons. Maybe I missed it. 3. Hi I think it was William J Busby on the 1880 census. There were so many William Busbys, I was quite amazed. The 1880 census is online http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp I thought it was interesting that Vohn and Lee both have William Jaspers, with different birth dates, although not related. No wonder it is so easy to think we connect where we don't. Later to day I will put some references from the Domesday book which was essentially the census of England in 1086. Incredibly, there are several Busbys.
