Burris. You are right that the Burris family came from North Carolina and then migrated to Ohio. Marriage Records of Highland Co., Ohio John C. Burris married Sarah Jessup 1-6-1818 Highland Co., OH Deeds 18 Jan 1815 Nat'l Pope & James Johnson to John C. Burris 25 Dec 1815 John C. Burris & Deborah his wife to John Harleman Westfield MM Quaker Records, Surry Co. N. C. John Burris (son of John & Esther) Francis (dtr. Thomas & Elizabeth Ballard) Milla b. 9-9-1794 Daniel b. 2-21-1797 Betty b. 4-23-1799 or 4-25-1799 Rebekah b. 1-5-1801 11-7-1793 John Burris, Surry Co., son of John & Esther m. Francis Ballard. 10-19-1805 John Burris Sr. got certificate to Miami MM (Ohio) 3-22-1806 John Burris Jr. & family got certificate to Miami MM (Ohio) But exactly who John C. is the son of, I'm not sure. In Highland Co., Ohio there was also John Burris who married Polly Allison Feb. 14, 1819 (this was the son of Daniel H. Burris and Mary Horton.) Sorry I can't be of more help.
