Not much research has been done about them. I became interested because I had quite a few relatives that served in it. B. F. Burris is listed on the roster , but I now think that it is in error. Burris served with a group of local rangers from Karnes Co. Texas and later the entire unit was mustered into the Second Cav. But evidently the men had the option of enlisting in other units, which Burris evidently did.
