    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iBH.2ACIB/993 Message Board Post: One of my approved DAR supplementals is on Capt. John VERTREES. I descend from Rebecca BURRIS through their daughter Rebecca VERTREES, who married John ALLISON. A couple of people have posted information elsewhere on ancestry.com about the marriage between Rebecca BURRIS and John VERTREES in @1765 - 1767 in Berkeley Co. (W)VA. According to The Handy Book, Berkeley Co. was formed from Frederick Co. VA 10 Feb 1772. Again according to The Handy Book, Frederick Co. (still in VA) was formed in 1738 but their marriage records are from 1782. I'm curious about what kind of proof has been found to establish the marriage in Berkeley Co. Has anyone looked at the land and tax lists for a Burris (all spellings) in either geographic area during that time period. I don't mean to be disputing anyone's word. Knowing what proof was used would really help in hunting for the parents of Rebecca. Thanks in advance. Kathleen (STANFIELD) COOK, rchrdcck@aol.com
