    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.msn.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/5541/iBH.2ACIB/1031.1 Message Board Post: I was excited to see your message. I am also a descendent of Benjamin Franklin Burris. My great grandmother was Harriette (Hettie) Burris Alderman. She was the 4th child out of ten children born to B. F. and Jane Johnston. They were: Shannon, Ella, L. Francis . Harriette, Daniel B.(died young), John J. William, Basil R. (died young) Earl H. and Susie E. My grandmother was Janie G. Alderman Hutton McGown (one of seven) and my mother is Yvonne Hutton Walls. I have a family tree that dates back to the marriage of James McMechen and Hannah Davidson in 1779. ( James was the son of Capt. Wm McMechen who settled on the Ohio River before the Revolutionary War.) On my tree, it shows that John Burris married Elizabeth McMechen. She was the 5th child of James and Hannah. I hope that this fills in some of your blanks. I was looking on the tree and on the Shannon branch it stops with Theodore H. but the copyright is 1938. It was compiled by Elizabeth Putnam from Brooklyn N. Y! . I would be happy to share with you any information that I have. I do know that Benjamin F. and Jane Johnston are buried in the old cemetary of Cotulla. Jane lived with my Great grandmother until her death. My mother remembers her vaguely. Grandmother use to have all of Grandfather's Burris' papers from the Civil War but lent them to a lady writing a book for the Daughters of the Confederacy in San Antonio. She lost all of the papers, etc. Some of his poetry was printed in the book - Father Wore Gray. I do have a copy and would gladly may a copy for your record. Hope this help and would love to here from you. Susan Turner Great, Great Granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Burris, Great Granddaughter of Hettie Burris Alderman
