I believe the Eliza Burris you mentioned is Eliza J. Burris, born about 1864, in either Madison County or Hardin County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Robert Thomas Burris and his wife Erin. Eliza's siblings would be Lucinda F., James W., Mary A., William C., Vesta and Eldora Burris. Eliza appeared in the 1870 and 1880 censuses, with her parents, in Dudley Township, Hardin County, Ohio. I have that she was married to George P. Albert, son of George and Catharine Albert, in 1886 in Marion County, Ohio. I don't have information on any children, nor a date of death for Eliza. Yes, this record is in the IGI, but linking that record to Joshua Burress SR. of Bertie NC is a bit of a stretch. I've seen nothing to corroborate that. Anyway, I've posted every scrap of data I have on Joshua Burress on the following website. If you have any addition abstracts, please forward them to me and I will post it citing the source. I have an Elizabeth Jane Burris who was born 20Mar1859 in Ohio, but later relocated to Kansas (I think Lincoln Center, where my grandmother was born). The Kansas portion is real sketchy as I am unable to locate birth certificates for any of the 13 children I show born to Elizabeth Jane Burris after she married Francis Mann Flack..........m -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of fcec@lvcm.com Sent: Saturday, November 23, 2002 7:29 AM To: BURRIS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BURRIS] Elizabeth P. Surnames: Burris Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iBH.2ACIB/969 Message Board Post: I am looking for the connection of Charles M. Burrice who married Jula E. Hughes(Julia?) in 1895 in Monroe county Tennessee to other Burris families of that area. Charles M. Burris was born in about 1848 in North Carolina. He died in 1914 and is buried on Bullet Creek in Monroe County, Tennessee. I believe Charles M. Burris was married twice, initially to Nancy Winchester in North Carolina in about 1865 and later to Julia Hughes in Tennessee. He had families by both women- the marriage to Nancy Winchester produced eight offspring- Mary E., James W., Margret P., Henry C., Francis M., Sarah, Rachel, and Albert. He and Julia Hughes also had several children, William A., Walter, Elijah, Henry,Ples, Annie,Rachel, and Sam. I believe that Charles had a brother Jame Burris who was born in 1836 in NC and also appears to have married Caroline Hughes in about 1890. The time and place of death is unknown. Any help with this lineage would be appreciated. Jim Breece

Yes i am on other rootsweb lists and people are saying they note a problem. What i do now and then is go to www.rootsweb.com homepage and click on Password Central under the HELP category. Then check you want to see what lists you are subscribed to and you give your password and the email comes instantly showing you the lists you are subscribed to. Hope this helps too. When a post is not delivered to a subscriber, it is "bounced" to the List Admin (that's me) for information. When a certain bounce threshold is reached within a given period of time, that subscriber is dropped from the list as no longer active. Normally this is good, because it purges the lists of people who change ISPs without notifying us, or are otherwise not receiving e-mail. In this case, however, it is due to certain ISPs who have installed spam filters and are listing RootsWeb on their reject list erroneously. In a few cases, some RootsWeb mail is getting through, and some is not, but in all cases when a subscriber reaches a given number of bounces, his subscription is terminated automatically by the servers. If you have a personal spam filter installed like "Spamcop" or others, or if your ISP has one installed to do it for you, then you are a possible candidate to have your RootsWeb mail cut off without notice. For now, please just keep an eye on the volume of mail you get. If you have a sudden drop in mail, try to subscribe to the list once again. If you are still subscribed, you should (hopefully) receive a notice to that effect. If you are not on the list any longer, your subscription attempt will be accepted and you will be put back on the list. You may also write to me privately if you would like me to check it for you, but please understand that with having 10 lists that I manage I cannot possibly do everyone manually so I would ask that you try it yourself first. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this regard. I do not even know if this message will get to everyone, but hopefully it will. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me off the list. RootsWeb is working to resolve this problem with the people who control the spam filters, and hopefully it will be resolved before too many more people are dropped from the lists.
