I am looking for information on the following people. I am not going to give dates since I believe that they are still living. Barbara R. Burris married to Thomas A. Meredith. Barbara's parents are: James Burris and Mattie Joines. Thomas' parents are James Meredith and Margaret Wilkins. The reason why I have listed Cadwallader on this is because the surname "Wilkin" appears in the info I have on my Cadwallader line. I am trying to find out if this connects also to my Burris line. Niki (a Burris by birth)
I would love to write to you Doc re;this branch. They are also mine from Marth Burris from Stanly Co.She was my great-granmother.Sharon-SDNORTONRN@CS.COM

I am also a descendent of Benjamin Franklin Burris. My great grandmother was Harriette (Hettie) Burris Alderman. She was the 4th child out of ten children born to B. F. and Jane Johnston. They were: Shannon, Ella, L. Francis . Harriette, Daniel B.(died young), John J. William, Basil R. (died young) Earl H. and Susie E. My grandmother was Janie G. Alderman Hutton McGown (one of seven) and my mother is Yvonne Hutton Walls. I have a family tree that dates back to the marriage of James McMechen and Hannah Davidson in 1779. ( James was the son of Capt. Wm McMechen who settled on the Ohio River before the Revolutionary War.) On my tree, it shows that John Burris married Elizabeth McMechen. She was the 5th child of James and Hannah. I hope that this fills in some of your blanks. I was looking on the tree and on the Shannon branch it stops with Theodore H. but the copyright is 1938. It was compiled by Elizabeth Putnam from Brooklyn N. Y! . I would be happy to share with you any information that I have. I do know that Benjamin F. and Jane Johnston are buried in the old cemetary of Cotulla. Jane lived with my Great grandmother until her death. My mother remembers her vaguely. Grandmother use to have all of Grandfather's Burris' papers from the Civil War but lent them to a lady writing a book for the Daughters of the Confederacy in San Antonio. She lost all of the papers, etc. Some of his poetry was printed in the book - Father Wore Gray. I do have a copy and would gladly may a copy for your record. Hope this help and would love to here from you. Susan Turner Great, Great Granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Burris, Great Granddaughter of Hettie Burris Alderman

Fay, the entry is in 1880 Anderson Co. TN, it is 5th Dist. page 47 and in Ancestry it is image number 4. Luvanan Burris, Widow, age 60 Nancy Burris, Dau., age 37 Marintha, Dau. age 21 Madison, son, age 19 This census has date taken as June 3. The Campbell Co. census date taken is June 4th and 5th. Seems unlikely it is the same person listed twice, especially with the two completely different names, Madison and Matthew. If it is the same person, listed just a day or two apart, you would think the name would be the same. Other entries for other families on the Campbell co. census list a brother relationship so it seems likely if Matthew were the brotherinlaw of Wm Gaylor, it would say so. Having a Burris name, Matthew might be a cousin or something. Of course anything is possible and it really makes a puzzle for me to wonder who they really are. Do you by any chance show any Matthews related to any of the other lines of Jacksons family? Maybe it would help if I sent for Matthews death cert., it might show his parents names more clearly. Thx again for your helps.
