Burris.He was a general council man for the Choctaw even tho he was of the Chickasaw nation.This was about the time the Choctaws and the Chickasaw mixed together.I think he was married to a Louisa Brown for awhile then married Eliza.Last name unkown.He and Eliza are buried on private property of a Mr. Griffin of the Jacks fork community south of Tuskahoma,Oklahoma.Turner had a sister named Lucy,and a brother named Sydney.I think Lucy died at Bragg,Oklahoma.Sydney has been lost at this time.

BURRIS Val D. Burris, age 66, of Canton, Ohio, passed away early Monday morning in the comfort of his home following a brief illness. Born in Canton, Ohio on June 16, 1937 to the late John Burris and Sarah A. ( Griffith ) Burris-Young. He was a veterian of the Army and served our country during the Korean Conflict. Val was a painter and had worked for the Morris Painting Company and Ladd Painting Company. He was also an avid outsdoorsman. Val was a member of the Eagles Club Arie # 141 and American Legion Post # 44. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert , Paul , and Richard ; two sisters, Ruth and Phyllis. Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Beverly A. Burris of the home ; three sons, Bret Wilbanks of Canton, Ohio , Brad Wilbanks of Tampa, Fla , and Val ( Anna ) Burris Jr. of New Port News, Virginia ; one daughter, Karen ( Ronald ) Helsdon of Medina, NY. There are 11 grandchildren ; five sisters, Larue ( Tom ) Kabat of Saginaw, MI., JoAnn ( Joe ) Causby of Edenboro, NC. , Lee Bowers of Beloit, Ohio , Mickey ( Gene ) Berring of Canton, Ohio , Jean ( Jim ) Boylan of East Canton, Ohio , and many nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. in The Reed Funeral Home with Mrs. Laurie Packa speaking. I wish I could help . I have ran into brick walls sinse I have started this search. I have family lineage in Oklahoma. The burris' that I know of were from Burris Valley , Jacks Fork County. and the Impsons form Jumbo, OK. Both of these geographical locations no longer exist. I also know that the Burris' in OK. were also Chickasaw Indian tribe. They inherrited the Burris name from European settlers. That is all I know at this time. I can't go back ant further than Lucy Burris who is my gggrandmother. Lucy Burris was married to Morris Impson and she was his 4th wife. They had 4 children together. Lilie Impson, Susie Burris Impson, James Franklin Impson, and Joshua Impson. That is all i have for Burris. Good luck to ya. I am looking for information on the following people: Clarice Ada Woodard b March 3 1888, Powell, MO; d 1975. Her parents: John W. Woodard (b Sept 28 1863) and Rosetta Gilbert (b Jan 16 1868; m Jan 26 1886). Clarice married Melvin Molton Shipley on June 6 1905. He was born July 7 1884 in Webb City, MO; d March 17 1954 in Tucumcari, NM. Melvin is a possible descendant of John Tidence Shipley, who my husband is descended from.
