I am sure my Irwin line came from Ireland, but I only go back to 1786 in the States where Samuel Irwin is recorded on a tax list in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It appears he may have been born sometime around 1752 and had two sons, John b. abt. 1773 and Hugh M. Irwin b. 1781. One of Samuel's daughters married a Dennis Burns in this same area.
