I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rowena BURNS taken at the Palace Gallery in Woodland, California. The photograph was taken in the 1880's when Rowena was 6-11 years of age, Rowena was b. 17 December 1879. The album the photograph was taken from identified Rowena as the only daughter of Col. Daniel M. BURNS who was a California State Senator, Secretary of State under Gov. Pike, and County Clerk in Yolo County, California. I've learned that the BURNS family came to Sacramento, California in the early 1850's from Tennessee. Parents William & Caroline BURNS came with their four children including Thomas, Daniel, Laura, and an infant who along with Caroline BURNS died shortly after arriving in California. William BURNS died at Fort Hall, Idaho while the children were still young, leaving the boys to be raised by the SULLIVAN family and Laura BURNS by the TRAVERS family near Woodland, California. Thomas BURNS settled in Humboldt County, California, Laura married Henry FURRY and Daniel pursued politics. I'd like to return the photograph to family, however, to date I've been unable to connect with any direct relatives interested in having the photograph. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
