I have a possible brother to your John burns. Robert Burnes was born in Maryland around 1807. His wife, Sarah Matt was born about 1815 in New York. Their three older children were born in the state of Ohio. this family came to Warrick County Indiana, before 1844. They were listed in the 1850/1860 Census, but did not show up in Warrick or Pike County, Indiana in 1870. no grave makers found in Warick County cemeteries. Children: John Burns Ca 1833 in Ohio Isaac Burnes 1835 in Ohio Martha Burnes 1838 in Ohio Catherine Burnes 1844 in Indiana Sarah A. Burnes 1848 in Indiana Alonzo Burnes 1848 in Indiana Robert Leroy Burnes 1849 in Indiana Lorenzo Burnes 1853 in Indiana Arabella Burnes 1855 in Indiana (Early Families of Hart Township, Warrick Co., Ind. Vol 1 A-B. compiled by Phyllis Morris Jamison) After Robert died, Sarah Matt Burnes moved to Kansas with her only child not married. The child's name was Ira, (maybe Isaac). Here they lived in a small hut near an Indian village. After Ira died, Sarah moved in with her son John burns in Spurgeon Indiana. Does anybody have any connection to your John Burns?
