I'm not sure Maury Co TN was ever part of Bedford Co, unless this happened in 1807, the year they were both formed. Here is a history of county changes in the Bedford Co area from the AniMap computer program: 1807 -- Bedford got created from Rutherford Co and Maury from Williamson. Bedford and Maury are side by side on the map. 1809 --Giles was created from Maury and Lincoln from Bedford. 1817 -- Lawrence was formed from Hickman and Maury. 1836 -- Marshall was formed from parts of Bedford and Maury. Marshall sits between the two other counties and consists of lands that used to be in Bedford and Maury. 1843 -- Lewis was formed from Hickman, Maury, Wayne, and Lawrence. If this is correct, no part of Maury was ever in Bedford County, unless possibly in 1807. The Handy Book for Genealogists by Everton confirms this. In 1827, a John Burns bought Bedford Co. land on Caney Spring Creek in what is now Marshall Co. from a William Wheeler. Witnesses were J. F. Ferguson and John F. Holt. I don't believe that he is the John Burns who married Isabella Nelson. The John Burns who married Isabella Nelson continued to have land transactions with his children in what is now present day Bedford County until shortly before his death in 1837. I believe he stayed in Bedford Co. Bill Burns
