    3. Lineage and decendents of Gilbert Burns, brother of Robert, the Poet. Gilbert Burns was born on Setember 28 1760 in Alloway, Ayr, Aryshie:Scotland, the son of Willian Burness and Agnes Broun.(Brown) He married Jean Breckenridge., the daughter of James Breckenridge on June 21, 1791 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire Scotland. He died on November 8 1827 in Grant's Breas, Haddington Scotland at age 67 He was younger than Robert Burns by 18 months. Jean Breckenridge was born on Feb, 6 1764 She died on Sept. 30 1841, age 77. Children of Gilbert and Jean were: 1. William Burns, born May 15 1792, in Mauchline, Ayrshire Scotland, married Jane Callanan. 2. James Burns was born on April 14, 1794, Mauchline Ayrshire Scotland. He died on June 22 1847 in Erskine, Renfrew, Scotland, age 53. 3. Rev, Thomas Burns, born on April 10, 1796 in Mauchline, Scotland, married Clementia Grant. 4. Robert Burns was born on Nov. 22 1797 in Mauchline Scotland. He died circa 1839 in South America. 5. Janet Burns, born May 23 1799 in Machline Scotland. She died on Oct. 30, 1818, age 17. 6. Agnes Burns, born Nov. 16, 1800 in Haddington Scotland. She died on Sept. 14, 1815, age 14. 7. Rev. John Burns, born July 6 1802 in Haddington, Scotland. He died on Feb. 26 1827 in Edinburgh, Scotland,age 24. of Typhus Fever, just after being licensed for the ministry. 8. Gilbert Burns, born Dec. 24, 1803 in Haddington, Scotland. married Jemima Georgiana Ferrier. 9. Anne Burns, born Sept 12, 1805 in Haddington, Scotland. She died on Aug 2 1887, age 81. 10. Jean Burns, born June 8 1807 in Haddington Scotland. She died on Jan. 4, 1827, age 19. 11. Isabella Burns, born on May 17,1809 in Haddington Scotland, Died on July 3 1815. age 6. Gilbert Burns worked on the estate of Lady Blantyre and worked for her nearly 25 years. in Haddington..
