    3. Hi from England. I was wondering if anyone from the other side of the pond would have some ideas on how I could find out what happened to my G.G. Uncle. His name was James Burns and in March 1860 he sailed from Liverpool to New Orleans looking for work and a better life. Over the next two years the family received ten letters from him, which we still have, describing the worsening situation. The last letter is dated, 'New Orleans 23rd June 1862' where he describes the Capture of New Orleans - 25th April. He mentions that he has 'joined a volunteer company of foreign subjects' but that is the last that was ever heard from him. His last correspondence address was: Mrs. Ann Connell, 218 Josephin St. Between Conscena & Magenzenes Street, New Orleans. It is practically certain that he died - possibly from disease - or was killed. I would be most grateful if anyone has any suggestions on how I can find out what happened to him. Many thanks. Nic Burns
